I think it's cool they compacted the mbox. never really did use the s/pdif on the mbox1.but I do wish the mono mode was there... not that I really use it tho.

what would be even greater if they sell the next mbox as a usb dongle so I can just use the ozonic without having the extra gear to lug around.and also the freedom to use it with other soundcards. it has to be cheaper than the mbox mini or the m-powered protools

It is really nice. I got mine yesterday, and I'm selling MBox 2 PRO which is too big and it is made of plastic, while MINI has aluminum enclosure.

For me S/PDIF is important, and it's annoying that it doesn't have it, but I like the look of it, and it might be the 'dongle' I've been looking for to get a bit of use out of PT while travelling.

i agree. i wrote them on this topic over a year ago... it would be nice if you could just plug an ilok in and use your protools, or have some type of super small usb dongle like you said.

P.S. anyone wanna buy my old focusrite mbox 1? i think i'll sell it now.

yeah. what sucks about the m-powered is having to have both the ilok & the m-audio gear.. that's double the trouble.

I wouldn't mind with a pcmcia/cardbus solution too though. at least it's smaller than the mbox mini.
