Thumbs up APOGEE GOES SOLAR

Apogee Electronics reveals today that it has installed a premier solar panel system using 96 energy-generating panels at their Santa Monica headquarters. The plates generate up to 15,000 kilowatts at peak. Any surplus power generated on weekends and holidays is fed back to the greater Los Angeles power grid.

CEO and Co-Founder Betty Bennett’s intentions are to implement all feasible methods to reduce any negative impact on the environment. The company strives to make its corporate functionality consistent with its ethics. Bennett explains, “Apogee’s commitment to the environment is a priority. We are doing our best to create a workplace that is conducive to creativity, productivity and environmental awareness.”

After AES, you may want to go to this conference in SJ.

Thats a positive step in the right direction :) I hope it sets a precident of sustainable thinking in the pro audio, manufaturing industry. Slightly off topic, I just read an article about old growth forest maples tree's being poached due to the high prices and high demand people wanting guitars with maple patterns like axes played by Santana and other big guitar players of note. Its encouraging to hear about companies like Apogee that are thinking forward in this day and age.

Excellent! I wish I could do this, and hope more people, especially owners of buildings with large, flat roofs, do the same.

That's rubbish. The quilt and flame patterns only occur in young trees.

Awesome. Solar is definitely the holy grail of energy, at least until someone unlocks and figures out the free energy work of Nikola Tesla.

If we put as much $$ into solar development as we have in combustion engine refinements, we'd be even further ahead as a viable replacement for the fossil fuel paradigm.

Smile That's Great

Congrats Apogee, our studio isn't too far away from you (P.Palisades) and we implemented a green-roof complete with fireplace. Great place to hang out (view of the ocean), cuts down on energy costs and has a thirty year guarantee....
