| Audio Technica Releases "Side Address" Small Condensor, ATM450 Audio Technica is now releasing a side address pencil mic in their Artist Series called the "ATM450". The mic is very small (5" long, .83" wide) and features an electret capsule design (ala SM81 etc) and has a -10db pad and switchable hi pass filter (80hZ). | Just got them in late last week, had that Saturday session pictured above and didn't experiment on snare. Give me a week or so...I'm sure I'll have time to provide clips at some point. I really want to hear them on ac guitar soon! They are excellent on drums / cymbals thus far (I used them for "overhead" duties although the mics in this case were placed about 2' off the ground pointing into the kit), plenty of detail and crack and oomph. Also, although the literature mentions they have a somewhat tight pattern I am finding they have somewhat of a wide cardioid pattern and nice off axis response. I really like the mounting system also, very unique. War
