Thread Starter | Silver Glockenspiel - Traditional and Bowed Kontakt Instrument I am very happy to announce that MA Simon has added another cool library to Sampleism. Silver Glockenspiel The Glockenspiel has been carefully sampled both with mallets and a violin bow. Within this library you will find Solo and Section Patches. The Instrument has been sampled cromatically from C3-C5 but he extended the playing range to G2-C5 for the Mallets and to G2-E5 for the Bowings. There are two velocity layers for the Mallet articulation, which has been sampled without RR (There are however pitched 3RR on the Solo patches) and one velocity layer for the bowing articulation, which has been sampled with 4RR. The volume of the Bowed Instruments is controlled with the modwheel. There are looped and unlooped patches so you can either play the original recorded bowings ore the more smooth and looped ones for more fluid playing. He included some handy controls on the Kontakt interface for quick use of: Attack and Release for all Mallet Patches and Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain and Release for all the Bowed patches. We hope you will enjoy playing with it. Have fun! The Silver Glockenspiel Library has been developed in collaboration with Mihai Sorohan. This is a Kontakt 4.2 Library! All Samples have been converted to Kontakts native ncw Sample format. http://soundcloud.com/ma-simon/sets/silver-glockenspiel-demos

| A Cello (or other) bow comes in very handy in creating some beautiful sounds from pretty much all metal tined instruments. Indeed, you can even just bow sheets of metal. Bowed saws... bowed xylophones, vibraphones, glocs, wine glasses... To bow a gloc, its easiest to start with the bow around 80degrees to the edge of the tine, and vary your pressure until you work out the feel of getting the best sounds. But you can do all sorts of stuff with the bow once you get the hang of it. Have a listen to the latest Amiina record if you want to hear tonnes of sounds made that way. They also do a lot of it live. There's a few people in the group who are very talented with a bow and saw too! Love that sound. Looking forward to checking out the library. Brendan. |
