Took em a minute but they FINALLY updated the MPD.

http://akaipro.com/prodMPD24.php

Is anyone at Messe? Does Akai have this out on display? If so I'd love to hear some feedback! Thanks in advance peoples.

WOW! That thing looks nice. I had the first one but sold it when I got my MPC1000. Then I sold my 1000 and am strictly laptop. I don't think it will improve the quality of my music though so I probably won't grab this one.

Still, with NI Battery and a nice sequencer, it kills any MP as far as workflow.

How much is it?

yea....

drum roll button was a total miss. it's weird cuz Korg has it in their unit, but hey what can you do. although when u think about it, note repeat is not quite as useful with a quick and easy TC feature no?

I just checked the video out. The XY control looks pretty sick. + some cool lite versions of DKFHS and others make this little joint a winner.

http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=KPC1

I wish it didn't look so cheesy though. The MPD wins on looks, not that that kinda thing matters to me

Just buy both, homie.

No, two of each, so you can like a digital Dre.

You don't need a dedicated drum roll button. With Alberton Live 5, or GURU you can assign any one of your pads to do drum rolls...all kinds of stuff.

For now I use M-Audio Trigger finger, but I will be getting this MPD24 if it’s worth the money.

That korg looks hot..I still just use my old MPD..love that thing.

when it comes to rolls, cant you just program them with MIDI? I play my parts by hand (never with quantize on) and then edit to make it roll if needed.

So what makes the MPD24 so much better than the MPD16? Some assignable knobs and faders? I might pick up the MPD16 for $100 less.

It should be able to control the transport for all the DAW's like PT, Logic, Cubase, etc.

The display on the MPD24 is really nice (it's actually a blue self-lit type, not the old-school green-screen on those render mockups), it's much easier to program the thing from the front panel than a Trigger Finger or MPD-16 (I'm not really familiar with the Korg unit). Build quality also seems a bit better than the TF. MPD-24 also has a transport, and bank-switching on the pads (each memory setting has 4 banks of 16).

I don't like the mirrored layout; I like my mpc pads on the right and controls to the left (like the mpc 2000/2000xl which was a great design layout but poor sound quality IMO)

There should also be a drumroll or template to program a button or pad to do an note repeat, the note repeat button has been a standard mpc feature for years.

Nonetheless; i'm a fan of akai beatboxes and gadgets; as soon as i get a buyer for my trigger finger (150.00) i'm getting the mpd 24. I don't want anything Digidesign (hardware or software) in my rig. Acid 6.0 arrives today so that'll leave me with Acid and Nuendo as my main DAW's.

For the time being, if anyone knows how I can do a note repeat on the trigger finger and reason 3.0 Please hit me up; I would be greatful.

Peace

Dave

I think the opposite, as this is how my 3000 is setup.

I was a big fan of the Mpc 3000 sound engine but hated the layout. I like my action buttons to the left; It's kind of why i went with the trigger finger.

I think digidesign and m-audio are wack; no love for them at all so the trigger finger goes and I want the mpd 24 to replace it.

I really hope they fixed the drivers this time, i had to sell my mpd16 because windows xp would randomly crash when ever i had the mpd16 plugged into usb. This happened to others also with the mpd16.
