why not just buy a regular hd and use a firewire/usb2.0 enclosure? it would cost 1/3 of the laptop drive while being faster (7200rpm vs 5400),

One reason would be that the bandwidth of usb2.0 and firewire are 60% and 50% (respectively) the amount of bandwidth of ATA100...

that said, i wouldn't buy this drive. I ordered my MacBook with a 7200rpm SATA internal drive. its great to have alot of space and all, but 5400rpm/ATA is becoming old tech.

I just ordered one of their 120 gig momentus drives for SFX library.
I also have a 60 gig 7200 rpb 2'5" external drive as well, for recording and sessions.
Very handy. Now I'll be completely mobiule, with everythign fitting in my laptops briefcase.
