| If the rumor is true...I'll give the UAD-1 another go. I really wish they would come out with a more powerful card Oh Well, you can't ask for everything. |

| it's my understanding they would have to rewrite all of there code as this card is a old video card from some manufacturer. I remember reading on Tom's hardware about somebody writing a way to use your 3d cards dsp for audio work. Let me find it... ok took some searching. Here is the company's faq. I dont know how far along they are. http://www.bionicfx.com/info.html |

| Lives for gear | Great news....except the fact that I already have the URS ones. NO sale for me. I would like to add that at last years NAMM I saw the Roland products and they have yet to all be released....I wouldnt expect them until the fall. They need to step it up into excitment category and get a new card with more horsepower. |

| Lives for gear | I meant that the Neve stuff wouldnt be out until later this year. Considering I saw the Roland stuff last year, and it still isn't all released a year later.......They are already "behind" on their work. |

| Oh . . . gotcha If they release the tape echo tomorrow, I'd say the are not "behind" - but if it's delayed, than I might tend to agree with ya . . . Here's a link I found on UADs forum: http://createdigitalmusic.com/index....k=view&id=1111 "NAMM: Classic Neve Effects, Soon in Computer Form I'd already heard that Universal Audio, makers of fine DSP hardware for computers as well as vintage analog reproductions and other DSP tech, was going to be pairing up with someone big at NAMM. That "someone big" has turned out to be AMS Neve Limited, who have made some of the most famous signal processors in history. You'll be seeing those running in emulated form on Universal's UAD-1 system, a DSP card that sits inside your PC or Mac. Universal says the first will be the Neve 1073 Equalizer. (Audio buffs are already drooling, but suffice to say this would be like me getting to Anaheim and being able to rent a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II for $18 a day from Budget Rent-a-Car, instead of a Hyundai Accent.) Hope to know more once I catch up with Universal. Add this to Roland chorus and echo classics and Cambridge EQ, and the UAD-1 platform is starting to really heat up, especially for vintage lovers." Looks like it might be true . . . didn't Neve say that Full Sail students (or something like that) had a big part in what they were going to release at NAMM? And seeing as NAMM is typically more prosumer, so Neve + NAMM = this kinda makes sense. We'll see soon! |

| I can't figure out why AMS/Neve wouldn't just go native at this point, though...??? |

| And to think I was just going to get rid of an extra UAD card........ Quite exciting news and your correct about the crack issue which is huge and has almost put some big names out of business. But a mk II card would be good, stay clear of the firewire as that was disaster for TC. Still cant work out how to wire a mic into my virtual 1073??? |

| Lives for gear | If you want the neve EQ's, look into the URS stuff. I love them. I also agree that putting them on the UAD card is a great idea, and NO the UAD card has never been "cracked" but I did notice 1 thing the other day. I had to reformat my PC, and when I re-installed my UAD cards, all the demos were available again. I guess you could ghost the drive, and when the demos expire, just re-install the ghost partition. I have a friend that does this with his PT HD rig, I always heard that the authorizations are written to the UAD cards.....anyways. |

| Just because AMS Neve is endorsing these plugins means nothing. Coders are coders, no matter who they work for. I'm hoping that because the Neve name is behind it, they will thoroughly test this plugin and make sure it sounds as close to the real as possible.

Its easily crackable yet also easy to lose... Just like everyting.... at this point I am highly skeptical.... but UA has pulled it off before.... the 1073 EQ would be nice but the UAD1 really is in dire need of a bus compressor...is there a 33609 coming down the pike? ![]() | |

| Don't know about others but I really like iLok. Total problem free and finally something easy to install. I hate all that challenge/respond crap over the internet everytime I have to reinstall my system or buy a new computer for almost 100 plugins and synths. It's a nightmare!! Not so with iLok. It's a breeze to install. Don't know what all you moaners go on about losing your iLok. You don't lose you Neve 1073 or Fender Strats do you? It's small? Well you don't lose your fiance's diamond ring? Hell maybe you do, what do I know..... Then you also lose your key for the house door or your Ferrari? Joke ![]() |

| Uad-1 is the one of the only systems not cracked. Seems like a logical choice. Plus there are a whole lot of Uad-1 owners out there. I'm sure TDM will be available eventually as well. Would be stupid not to go there. |
