Thanks kindly for the info! I've been checking their site almost every day, hoping for the AU comps to be released. I'll rent them this week and check them out.

Finally the URS Compressors for Audio Units!!!

URS Announces Classic Console Compressors Audio Units v1.0

January 8, 2006

URS announces the Audio Units versions of the URS Classic Console Compressor Bundle.

The URS Classic Console Compressor Bundle digitally re-creates the sound of two popular British console compressors.

The URS 1970 is smooth and warm, and the URS 1980 is snappy and more aggressive.
Both feature up to 192k sampling and 64-bit double-precision processing.

Separate compressor and brickwall limiter, internal sidechain with highpass and lowpass filtering.

The URS Classic Console Compressor Bundle includes two plug-ins:
The URS 1970 Compressor
The URS 1980 Compressor

Each plug-in includes Compressor / Llimiter / Side Chain version
and a Compressor Only version.

The Audio Units versions are available for demo too. So I won't need to buy them for a week or two.

Just register for the TDM/RTAS Compressor Bundle demo, but download the AU one once you get to the downloads page.

VST versions will be in Beta any day now.
Don't imagine the Beta programme will be a long one, and they will soon be available.
Will be very interesting to see how they stand up against the UAD FairChild (my current "Must Use" buss compressor) and the Voxengo Marquis Compressor in T3 mode (very close to the SSL)

How would you guys compare these to the Universal Audio UAD-1 compressor plugs? I'm trying to find a replacement for the UAD plugs so I can move on to a quad G5.

Thanks!

Does anyone know how these would compare to the UAD-1 compressors? I'm trying to find a replacement for the UAD-1 compressors so I can move to a quad G5. (Can't use a UAD-1 card in the new G5s)

Thanks,

I tried the demos when I had an Mbox and they are a completely different flavour to the uad plugs. Although I think the quality is on the same level. Can't wait for vst's for urs and colortone pro
Along with chandlers new plug this will be a good start to the year for us all..

well does UA emulate SSL and Neve compressors?
and does URS emulate Urei compressors?

kinda hard to compare an apple to a grapefruit, don't you think?

Yeah, definitely; it's apples and oranges. I'm probably gonna have to get a magma expansion to keep running my UAD cause I know I'm going to miss them, and there doesn't seem to be a good alternative.

Thanks,

j

I'll keep waiting impatiently for vst. Not just any vst. PC VST...... Maybe I should just Mac-ify. I feel like it's changing religion at this point..
