PCIe PT has Accel Core!!!!!

PCIe HD core is Accel not just a process card. From the 'Getting started with HD' PDF:

Whoa - when the PCIe G5's came out, I SWEAR Digi themselves said on the DUC that the PCIe Core cards would be identical to the current Core cards...i.e. NOT Accel.

Hmm - now I suppose we'll see "old" non-Accel cards dropping in price on the used market..................

As told by a digi rep; there will be 2 different systems 1. PTHD and Accel that we have today 2.PTHD Accel Core PCIe and Accel PCIe. the cards are not swappable. most PC's dont have more than 2 pcie slots and all new macs only have PCIe. so if your on the PC today your using the current HD system. Only if you are getting the new MAC G5's can you use the new PCIe system. The new pciE systmes will only support a 3 card system (core accel pcie and 2 acccel pcie).. so if you want a larger HD system you will still buy the older core and accel cards plus an expansion chassis (or a PC with more PCI/PCIX slots.... whew......

That's nothing to sneeze at, though...isn't that coming close to HD4-type power with the core card being an Accel card?

Not sure if that's right. Digi were saying a three card limit until their PCIe chassis was released (I believe it's imminent if not already available)

The limit will be six cards.

the new chassis will be a PCI/PCIx 6 slot. it will work with MAC/PC and PCIX/PCIe machines but again will only support HD Core and HD Accel cards (the physical slots in the chassis are not PCIe).... which is fine with me, it means i can buy a new chassis, buy a Quad G5 and not have to upgrade my hd cards......

You're absolutely right. My bad.
My misinterpretation that Digi would be releasing a PCIe chassis..... which is not true as yet.... though I'm sure it won't be long!?
