Hi,

Like all the SSL digital consoles the price depends on the options (DSP,faders, pre) . The price is between the C100 and the C200 .
The midi control (HUI) is implemented better than on the C200 but the sound is the same .

Don't take my word for it but the price of a basic 16 faders system (already quite powerful) should be around 180k € .

The C300 was not due so early but PG accelerated the devolpment when he saw the project .

The politics at SSL are changing and there should be many new products in the year to come (summing etc...)

I don't work for SSL but I've been in contact very recently .

I sat behind one yesterday @ IBC amsterdam
Really nice desk!
They had a C200 in an mobile truck and that thing also looked too cool.

just out of curiosity a dump (?) question:
is it possible to connect a bunch of analog compressors and eqs to it and
do music mixing?

I'm happy to say that after a long conversation with someone from SSL at IBC, it appears that they will release a new analog desk at AES New York 2006.

It will have at least 56 channels, dynamics on all channels and serve as a daw controler, all that for around 150 000€

The guy said he would maybe talk a little more about it at AES Paris in april...

56 channels.... expanded or base? Sounds like the next 9000L or something.... (whatever's after the K... ehe)

Sounds interesting...

Guys, I really can't tell you anything more, it already took a lot of persuasion to get that info out of the SSL man...

The only FACTS he acknowledged is that it would be AT LEAST 56 channels (because that was my requirement), that it would have INBOARD dynamics on all channels, that it would include some kind of DAW control and that it would be similar to the AWS 900 in terms of maintenance, power requirement etc...

I told him my budget for a console was around 130 000 € and he told me it would be within that budget, so I guess max 150 000 €

With these specs I think we are looking at something closer to the AWS900 than a 9000k, I cant imagine them building a completely modular console for that sort of money...

But it does look like something a lot of people are going to want... and I would'nt be surprised if Neve had a product along the same line in development...

And, yes 12 months seem like an awfully long time...

Hi Blaugruen7, perfectly possible (but it has built in EQ Algorithms that duplicate the E and the G EQ as well as a dynamics section). Supposed to sound incredibly close to the 9k XL Series. Based on the same processor than the C200 which is used a lot in music mixing, C300 is more frlexible and cheaper...

@profiler I have to correct you on that one
the man I spoke to at the SSL booth said that they didn't put in the E and G Emulation of the eq's nor is the compressor emulation there.
The man that said this to me is the man behind the C series consoles
he gave me a very nice tour of the C300
it is indeed a very flexible desk
