TASCAM - RELEASE - US-2400 NEW Version Adds Scribble Strips, More

TASCAM'S US-2400 CONTROLLER UPDATED TO 1.31
Free Upgrade adds Soft LCD Scribble Strip Support, Improved Communication with Logic, Cubase and Nuendo

Montebello, CA (August 31, 2005): TASCAM has released US-2400 version 1.31, a major free upgrade adding new features and improved DAW support. The upgrade includes Soft LCD, an application that displays track names, parameter values and plug-in information on the user's monitor. It also adds EQ control for Steinberg Cubase® and Nuendo® and seamless operation in Apple's Logic Pro 7.1®. The update is available for download from the TASCAM website and will be included with all new units.

"This upgrade responds to studio owners' desire for better control surface integration with their DAW software," says Jim Bailey, Product Manager for TASCAM. "Soft LCD displays channel information on the computer monitor where the user is already looking for information. The US-2400 gives musicians and engineers a familiar interface for interacting with digital audio workstations like Pro Tools®, but with a universal format that works in other applications as well. The US-2400 is the only universal fader controller to offer 24 faders for easy access to all of your channels, and the first with a joystick controller for mixing in 5.1 surround."

The TASCAM US-2400, co-developed with SaneWave, provides a professional mixing console feel to DAW recording software. Features include:

• Twenty-four touch-sensitive 100mm moving faders
• Touch-sensitive motorized master fader
• Twenty-four encoders assignable to pan, aux, or channel strip, which provides EQ, Aux and Pan control.
• Bank switching provides access to 192 channels
• Select, Solo and Mute buttons per channel
• Transport section with smooth Jog/Shuttle wheel
• Joystick controller for surround panning
• High-speed USB connection to computer
• "Driverless" operation ready to function without installing driver software
• Compatible with DAW applications including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, Sonar, Cubase SX and Nuendo

adds Soft LCD Scribble Strip Support

adds Soft LCD Scribble Strip Support,
Dang.........
I got really excited for a minute, I actually was reaching for my wallet.
I thought it said that there was now a new one with a Scribble Strip per fader.
I was really going to get all 32 faders setup.... DANG.
why is the C24 the only one, with a Scribble Strip
what if we don't want the extra press and all the other things that raise the price,...

...exactly. "Scribble strips" are not found on your computer monitor.

I think its great- thanks for the update. Best bang for the buck you can get in controllers.

Could someone please post a screenshot of the Soft LCD software in action?

I've been trying to decide between the US-2400 or a Mackie MCU. The Soft LCD software won't run without a US-2400 connected.

I'd love to see what it looks like onscreen, but I can't get anyone on the Tascam or Apple forums to post a screenshot.

Is that a joke?

Seriously... the idea of having 'virtual' scribble strips for a hardware controller.. not on the hardware controller??? It's gotta be a joke, right?

I mean, with that logic, owners of the previous units could just put their strip of sharpie-marked white tape up on the bezel of their computer monitors.

It might be a great deal, but only if you don't care that it doesn't have scribble strips.

I'll have to DL and give it a try. Perhaps sometime over the WE, but I doubt it.

Seriously, when I was using a Pro Control I never noticed or used the scribs. For me, it is a non-factor.

But I ALWAYS setup the fader layout EXACTLY the same way for every session. And I use board tape (if its a big mix)... Just like I did with the Trident (which BTW didn't have scribble strips, either)!

So I guess a screenshot is out of the question? I can't get one person to post a screenshot of this software, on 3 different forums. You'd really think Tascam would post a picture of it.

In the Manage Attachments window, first you Select the file from your hard drive. Then you have to click another button to Upload it. Wait until that's done, then click Close This Window. Then it should be added to your post.

Thanks for trying! :)

Okay, thanks for the email! Got screenshot. It's basically just a black strip with some green writing that shows your channel name.

I was thinking it might show fader position and current mute/solo assignment. Wouldn't that be better?

Still, it's better than nothing. I kind of like the Tascam controller, but the MCU may be the better choice for Logic. Here's a question.....

Does the US-2400 control the Linear Phase eq in Channel Strip mode as if it were the Logic Channel EQ? If so, that's pretty cool.

OK
It is a black box with green writing but it is resizable and will auto hide.
The display has different screen sets
Individual and bank of 8, Channel names pan settings vol levels aux send etc
No mute or solo It will help if you are lost.

Here ya go. Excuse me for not sharing before. I was tired, and my email was saying there was something weird w/ the attachment. Too bad it doesn't have Mute and Solo.

So, Tascam guy-

While you're here pedaling your wares, I have a question: Is it possible to use multiple US2400s w/PT???
