guitar amp plugin that doesn't suck!

haven't seen this mentioned -
native instruments ac box combo $79.00
from native instruments as download

this is bar none the best amp simulator plug i have ever played

the plexi combo sucks
the twin combo sucks
i think amplitube
pod
amp farm all more or less suck
though my pod xt is capable of some ok sounds and the effects are good

this thing rocks, i did not believe it
so i put it away
then i came back, it sounds and plays like an amp

i feel like i got an amp to add to my fender and boogie

try it 30, day demo

now i really don't like native instruments cuz their asshole rtas plugs suck on my protools hd rig
so i do not like to promote them
cuz........well, they suck

i do however also have a pc and on a pc their plugs don't suck
but the strings that came w kontakt 2 really suck
so i guess they still suck

but this one doiesn't suck
i had to suck it up to say it

of course YMMV

well I happen to rather like the sansamp psa-1 plugin, but to process stuff, like organs vocals and bass.... I like to get my guitar tone from an amp and mics in a room.

amp sims are like McDonald's new flavor of the month...everytime I've ordered it, after one bite I realize I shoulda ordered happy meal #1, or better yet, gone somewhere else...and the next month......mmm looks good, I'll have

Down side is that since I got echo farm, I broke down and bought an SDD3000, a Fulltone TTE, an Ibanez AD202 and ...I'm not done yet

just my 0.02, but from now on, all amps plugged into my axes need a standby switch.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up! I love stuff like this, especially for under $100. If I use it once, it's paid for itself. Might be nice on snare drums or synths, or vocals....

exactly,

now i am checking out guitar rig, the whole ball of wax.
this thing just may work
splitting signals for different mic cabs, ect
very cool

always good to have a pc around, alot of stuff works better on a pc

anyway, the distortion is very good on that plug, something that most even the line 6 guys
haven't really got right, of course that
goes w the clean sound too

Boy, I must be dumb...

All this plugin does is turn the volume up and down; otherwise it doesn't change the audio at all.

I've tried every button and knob on the durn thing. Think it's a bad tube?

GuitarRig is decent but it uses a lot od DSP power.

Waves is coming out with a new one called GTR in about 2 weeks. Should be around $550, and it was designed in conjunction with PRS Guitars. Looks pretty interesting, and it comes with a sort of DI box. I'll be looking into buying it when it is released.

hey - without wishing to pimp (too much...)

Guitar Rig MSRP has just been reduced substantially - not sure on the USD price, but over here we've reduced it to Ģ229 and its selling thru dealers at Ģ199

Cheers

It's not a plugin obviously but I often use my Vetta II head to reamp guitar D.I. tracks (or clean mic'd sounds) and it works pretty well. I'm not really concerned at all about whether or not it sounds anything like the originals that it's trying to model but it can usually be made to sound pretty decent.

I second that!!!! It does sound pretty good for real audio stufff.... I think this amp simulator is pretty good... can't wait to get my paws on it (even though I just purchased a tube amp)... i don't think these things will completely replace nice tube guitar amps, but they are very practical for some situations...

OK, I just tried this thing again, and it's doing nothing to the signal except changing the level. There's no support for the demo, so I'm S.O.L. as far as NI is concerned. Routing has been triple-checked, and I've got eleventy-million plugins running already, so it's not like I'm a neophyte at this.

So is there some trick I'm supposed to know?

max-
i had trouble w his thing in protools hd on a mac
but then i saw it under tdm instruments in protools
works there, must be htdm

anyone else on protools tdm, i have amp farm
which more or less sucks, but i was wondering
how amp farm 2 sounds, i could not get the demo to
work

checked out the waves gtr thingy, that looks
pretty intriguing, sounds great on their demo video
and it is tdm, yea!!

Turns out I had to reinstall. The version I installed had no presets, which seems to be necessary to get it going. Possibly because I did a custom install the first time.

So after messing about, the Plexi is gawd-awful. Just wretched. Pee-you!

The 'Twang-whatever' was (yaaaawwwwnnn) ok.

The AC30 was, well, ok so far. Still not sure, but I know that running the PSP Vintage Warmer right after it helps eleventy-jillion percent. I put it up against Amplitube and I think Amplitube still beats it. The AC does have some good points, though. I think what's making it sound amp like is the crystall-y, glassy high end. They did get pretty close on that. Anyhow, $79? Sure, I'll go for that.

Edit: I wasn't running through the Rosetta 800 when I tried it before. With better conversion, it's a LOT better. Combine that with the PSP VW and you're getting into nice sounding amp plugin territory. I still use amps for the real stuff, but for getting songs together, it's nice to not have to hook up an amp every time.

I think all guitaramp plug-inns suck, It doesn't even come close to the real thing, I've tried most of them and if you really need to work with a plug-inn the ampfarm on protools TDM is pretty decent.

Guitar Rig is the best amp sim I've heard. I think Amplitude sucks VERY badly. I've got both legal version.
