Cool AES 2008: Rumors & Expectations!!

So with AES around the corner thought it would be fitting to start the annual AES Rumors Thread.

I'm expecting Digidesign to drop something or at least make an announcement.
You never know. They may pull something out of the hat or simply tell us that the companies new policy is to listen to their client base and do nothing about it.

I would say Digi probably listens to customers more than most companies.
I have participated in 3 Digidesign surveys in the last 12 months. They have a feature request section on the web site. I have even had emails from Digi in the past asking what I would like to see in Protools. Last AES in San Francisco Digi gave free bus rides to Digi HQ in Daly City from Moscone. There was a large number of Digi employees there with displays and lots of people you can ask questions and give feedback.
You have to participate not just stand on a soap box a criticize I would say Digi probably listens to there users more that most other companies. Just because they are not taking your suggestions does not mean they are not listening. Go to AES head over to the Digi both and ask!

Thanks for that input. Must have been great to go to Digi HQ.
My quip regarding Digi listening to us was really just an expression of the AVID (Digidesign) - Letter from CEO!
Suppose though I have become somewhat grouchy due o the lack of ADC in PT Le.
But if al goes well will be working on a HD ystem in the new year. YAY!

You're wrong! Gibson is buying them... and after a short while all development will cease and then after several years there will be some die hard Steinberg product users still using long outdated computers and OS just to run there favorite DAW.

If Digi did buy Steinborg it would be to port all there VST's to RTAS and then stop making them available on the VST platform...

1. Best Buy will be the official exclusive retailer of Digidesign products. All training and support will be provided by their computer geek service.

2. Walmart will be the official exclusive retailer of Reaper. There is no need for support services. Justin will continue to do it.

3. Home Depot will be showing their version of the SSL shed.

4. Auralex will be showing the first sound isolation product for child care industries. The days of annoying, screaming childrenare a thing of the past. The product is essentially a big square foam block that fits over the childs head and rests on their shoulders. It reduces the noise by 80dB!

5. There will be a cable testing display. Audiophile and studio grade cables will be compared againstgneral purpose Bledon, zip chord and wire coat hangers. It will show that people are stupid for not paying $300 per foot for their cable.

6. Studer will show their new A800 decks.

7. RND will demonstrate their reissue 8068 in a desktop format.

8. Nuemann discovered a lost wharehouse of 2500 U47s and 5000 tubes. They will be taking bids.

9. Roger Nichols will be showing new software that encodes your mix,. When your songs are illegally downloaded or shared, the listener only hears a satanic voice saying "F... you, you cheap MF'er! HAHAHAHA!"

Ooooh! Will it run on the Studer Dyaxis?

(Does this line of humor mean we're getting old? The new guys are probably scratching their heads.)

Yeah like when I just shook my head at the announcement earlier this year of Gibson joining forces with TC Electronic and my young guitarist freind just didn't understand. I believe that fell through though - thank goodness for that.

The Studer Dyaxis was one of those boxes that, when looking back at all the time wasted waiting for it to render, I deserve a "do over" from the big guy upstairs.

Anyone who has ever had to use one of those deserves those hours added back onto his life.

What a piece of shit! And sadly no it wasn't that long ago.

And it was friggin expensive! I want my time back as well... oh well I really want most of the time during the 80's back as music sucked so much during that decade!

I predict that Burgess will be showing a new Sontec mastering EQ

Gibson and Tascam will merge.

The Tascam division will immediately discontinue gibson products and the Gibson division will discontinue all tascam products.

Gigastudio and Opcode will be forgotten in this circular firing squad and will be resurrected by former employees.

World peace ensues.
