Looks cool even with the low-res image...

Yea.....it makes the "Sweet Ten" a pretty versatile beast when you fill it with the "Biz MK", and/or "Pants" Microphone preamplifier's. Each of the microphone pre's can have passive splits, so the "Sweet Ten/Moiyn" Combo is ideal for live recording/monitoring. Its a pretty smart idea on Andrews part. Direct Outs??....pretty slick I'd say.

yeah, because how are you going to get the channel inputs into the module in regular rack? pretty much your only option would be to put a DB25 connector on the front panel of the mixer module and then plug the fan out of the cable into each of the channel outputs on the back... and then you can't take direct outputs from each channel without y-cables on each output. it gets to be a mess. all that stuff is built in to the SWEET TEN. if you don't use it, you'd pretty much never know it was there. but if you buy the MOIYN, it slides right in, and you don't have to run any crazy cables to get it to work.

I'm thinkin its useful for mixdown, take 8 500 series pre's with line inputs, and an easy way to sum those together, I think it's a pretty clever way to get more use of the 500 series format.

look at it his way, in the same rack space you can have all 8 channels of high end pre's AND high end summing.

yep that's the idea. if people are going to buy some mic preamps and a rack anyway, why not make it so that they can get another use out of the modules at mixdown? to that end, the BIZ MK and the PANTS both have switches for transformer balanced LINE input (as well as mic and DI) so that you can put a very healthy level into them before distorting. the ACTION naturally has a line input, but it also has 45dB of gain (before compressing), so it makes a pretty good "input module" also. and hey, you even get a compressor on that channel if you use it as an input.

Just wondering if the September 2008 projected release date is still looking like it is going to happen. I have a Sweet 10 on the way, and I am seriously thinking about picking up a Moiyn module when it becomes available. Also, on the master rotary pot on the Moiyn, where is unity gain?

it is definitely possible. design on the moiyn is done; andrew had a sweet ten loaded with modules and a moiyn up and running at tapeopcon. but first we need to make sure that we can meet the demand for racks, since the moiyn only works in the sweet ten. it should be clear by the time of the AES show, which is at the beginning of october.

unfortunately, the update is the same as last time... we're still waiting on parts. we want the next batch to be ready soon so that we can start selling the moiyn as well (esp with AES coming up).
