| From the experience that I have with it, I've found that the M80 is a bit more detailed and has more gain before feedback. Like I've also said, I've found that it doesn't really need any eq to get it to sound good in a live mix. If you have a Beta 58 (which I am also a fan of), it wouldn't be a bad idea to check one out. |

| I'll buy it if it isn't built in the US.

| I like how telefunken posts this, because I know they wont put out samples with it or give information like where it is made (basic). stop being so dodgey an tell us whats so good about it other than being made by telefunken and having a flashy website. honestly. shit...

seriouslly people, if you're not interested move along or take it to the moan zone. i'm waiting for the soundclips to post and i may very well be interested in 3 or 4 of these at this price point. i have been lucky enough to work a few sessions with an AK47 this past week and I was impressed. The mics are good, atleast the couple that I have heard.

| Is the AMI / TAB Funkenwerk output transformer the only part of this microphone being made in the USA? No flamming going on here... |

| Howdy! Firstly, I think that Tele USA is a fine company and what I have tried from them has been impressive. BUT, I can see why some feel uncomfortable about the "made in china" thing. For me (and this is just my feelings about it) it is because: 1. I prefer to support countries that require companies to pay a fair wage to their empoyees and have reasonable labor laws. These are people after all, they should not have to be treated like garbage just because they happen to be born in China. 2. It is hard for me to believe that people who are treated so poorly are really paying close attention to detail and precision. Do they have some type of intrinsic pride in this product? Or is it the same as assembling a washing machine to them? 3. I really relate to in a personal way (and it seems others do too) for whatever reason to Microphones, Guitars, Outboard and such. I like to think that the people assembling/manufacturing have pride in their products and that it was built with great care. It is inspirational to use a fine German microphone, because of the heritage, history and pride of the brand. Chinese mass producton of musical instruments makes it all feel like a video game, like kids will play with it if we make it cheap enough. The China model is based on low price not high quality. Not to say that the Chinese can not make quality products, sure they can. But why do companies go there, to save money obviously. 4. In my experience, audio products made in China do not seem to become classics and hold their value too well. That being said certain products I do not personalize with as much and the "made in china" thing is not as painful, for example a guitar tuner or Masterlink? Now of course the explanation for this is complicated, but I am more than comfortable admitting that my psychological state is questionable.

| I like it on snare drum, it cracks a little harder. I was always a Beta 57a fan for snare, then I moved to the PR-20, and now I'm really liking the M80. |

| Ian Jones, after reading literally thousands of threads on gearslutz, I can safely say that your rude and evasive answer to a simple question is easily the BEST example of how a company rep SHOULD NOT behave. From your posts alone (ok, and from reading about the whole m16 debacle) I have decided to boycott your companies entire range. There are just so many better ways you could of handled the simple question of "where are they made".. For example, with a polite and truthful reply... Did your mum not teach you manners? ![]() |

I have strongly disliked the sound of the PR20 on snare in the past. How would you say the M80 sounds in comparison? The thing I didn't like was the low end woofiness and thickness. I get a lot of bottom from my snare drum in my overheads which are typically a Royer SF12. So I really want brightness and crack (and not mud) to come from my close snare mic. How do you think the M80 fits in with that? thanks, Brad

| The Tele USA company looks like they make some great mics, but the evasiveness of answering a simple question (and one that should be standard available knowledge for all potential customers) raises the red flags for me. Ian, set things straight and let's get back to discussing the new mic.

| Look, I didn't want to say anything about where it's made because I didn't want to get into another discussion about the M16, and that's where I envisioned this thread heading. Not wanting to go down that road again, I choose to not answer the question hoping that it would just be dropped. I apologize for sounding rude, I just didn't want to go down a road that I thought would lead to a discussion that I want to get in to. Again, I apologize for being rude. |

Oh, and the website has been updated. There are still some more updates that need to be made, but at least it is closer to what it is supposed to be.

| The parts are put together and made into a microphone here in the US. Sorry, must have misunderstood the question. |

| Gear addict | Is it possible there can be a female vocal on the website? Nice on guitars though. Will it be available in Europe? The Netherlands in particular. Muziekschuur

EAVR distributes and sells Telefunken USA here in NL, there used to be some problems with the use of the Telefunken name here in Europe but that's all sorted out now. ;) I am sure it will be available here soon.
