| Peluso / Bees Neez PARA1 Preamp Anyone heard anything about the new peluso pre? It only seems to be listed on the Canadian distributor's site, not the main peluso site. PARA1 Preamp |

| Don't know why they posted that yet but yes, it's coming in the next month or two hopefully. The first version will be the table-top unit like you see on that website and shortly thereafter will come a rack unit with two channels. It's an extremely flexible tube pre-amp and you can really dial in the sound you are looking for.

| This looks really interesting but I wonder what's up with the "Entirely hand built in Australia", considering what little I know about Peluso's location and history.

| Ben, the Aussie peluso guy, was telling me about these a little more than a year ago. he was saying that they are his own design, but are very much based on a telefunken type pre. he was also talking about making an 8 preamps in a rack version! he was also saying that they should be quite affordable. |

| Interesting. I've not heard of this product or the Cdn distributor (they're about an hr away from me). I'll consider a trial to hear it in my own shop: the voice clips on their website are basic, but it sounds interesting - with the tonal possibilities, it might be a versatile piece?!?

| Yep but maybe this will sound good with the stereo peluso's that I bought from you Tony 'So I'll keep the stereo version in my mind. Got to do some overwork here to pay all this new stuff. Greetz, Paul

| Just typed a lovely intro post and previewed the post to lose it. Couldn't be bothered to type it all again. I have a Para1 turning up in the next few weeks. Spoke to Ben, nice bloke very accomodating. Haven't heard it, don't care. I'm not buying VIPre. I'm not that strong but I do like the variability that a well designed valve circuit can provide. Lot's of flavours and that makes it more useful in a small rig so liked the design ideas. That about covers the lost post. Except to say, thank-you. I don't know who runs this forum but it sure is useful. Who have thought that 20th Century interconnectedness would be used for butting heads and sharing experiences. Humans, they are a mystery. Will let you know more when it's in my hands. Back to the build. (Is it OK to hate cabling) Pete Neil |

| It sounds like Peluso is only involved in name/distribution. Anyone know for sure if this is correct? |

| BeesNeez Para-1 I was interested in the PARA-1 and a peluso 2247-LE, after seeing a demo of all the peluso mics and the PARA-1....All I can say is after hearing the quality I set my self on a mission to get that sound on my front end...So I contacted Ben Sneesby and Visited his Factory to see what the deal was...Let me say and you can Quote me on it! The Pre-amp is freakin unbelievable in quality and sound, and when you see how it works and the clarity and warmth it adds ,you'll never NOT consider using it on the front of your DAW....Plus Ben is an absolute down to earth guy, who totally goes out of his way to ensure you know every detail about the depth this 3 knobbed beast can produce. |

I've been anxiously waiting for this pre to hit the market: I wonder if distribution (abroad) has changed now that the association with Peluso has folded? I spoke to the Cdn distributer a few days ago, but not regarding this pre - maybe I'll follow up and call him again... Thx for the report - encouraging news!

| Got one... Mine landed last week. Tracked some guitars through it and it is a lot of fun. We had some problems with post within Australia and Ben was really helpful. I wouldn't have any problems recommending Ben's customer service. If your interested in the pre, call him up. Really nice fella. Have it in the UK at the moment. First thing I did was pop it open. Big tor PS, lots of nice caps, JAN NOS tubes. Circuit topography isn't my chosen specialist subject but there was plenty of sheilding, twisted cables, seperation, all the stuff that you'd expect from a well constructed piece. Top work Ben. Wouldn't look out of place in a 70's Hiwatt. Running it alongside P1, Elixir, GR it gets very crunchy. Like I said earlier, it is loads of fun on guitars. I don't know exactly whats making that texture dial work so well but it reminded me of shifting bias in guitar amps. The thing about this level of variability is that it makes it hard to describe the relative sound. It's definitely warm as you'd expect, it does fatten the signal constructively and it sits on the darker side of neutral but I've only given it a work out with guitar tracks which isn't really an appropriate signal source for extended HF appraisal. I've never used the Sebatron's although I'm in at Universal in the next couple of weeks and the engineer in there has his own. Might be a useful comparison. Only question is do you go to it? I have for rock guitars. Your milage might be different (as the old fella says). Thanks Ben. Cue the vocalist. |
