Added Logic 7.2 to the list of apps last night and it came up under HUI mode also, as did FCP, but didn't actually open any sessions with it active.

Going to bite the bullet and get Logic 8. Will post anything that comes up.

As a side point, one client commented on the "sexy little silver thing" on the desk. Then when they saw the Euphonix badge they were even more impressed because "doesn't the Sydney Opera House have a Euphonix mixer?" Worth every cent just to hear that!
Is there a trick to getting it [MC Mix] to work in HUI mode? I keep getting the could not connect message. Couldn't find any documentation on the subject. I have it set in PT to send and receive on Euphonix port 1.

d.dot, go to the euphonix website and download the latest driver. The one that came on CD with the unit gave me the same problems.

I have the McMic for more than a week now, using it with Nuendo on OSX 5.2.

I have to agree, it will be great, hopefully in the near future.

Startup was difficult, as Euphonix uploaded a nonworking driver first,
and the activation at Steinberg website was documented wrong in the
Eucon-docs.

But they solved it in a day.

Working with plugins is REALLY cool now.

Some issues are a pain, though:
If you swith bank on MCMIX, it lasts for 10 seconds until you have acces to the unit again -
no such delay in Logic 8 on the same machine.
A videotrack in the project causes Eucon to crash every time.
Plugins open when editing, but they don´t close afterwards - in Logic they do.

Euphonix support: I opened 3 tickets, first was a week ago, got 2 answers that support is in progress, but since that nothing happened.
(case # 1105 and 1112 - what numbers you guys got replys for?)

Anyway, Eucon is it. My expectations, that Artist Series would work without any problems from startup - as MCPro is out for a while - turned out as too high.

Besides that, it is the thing I was waiting for a long time.

Videotrack in Logic is fine here also.

I just found out that its some quicktime files with h264 causing the crash, DV codec works fine so far.

A workaround forusing the crashing files is: inserting a group of 8 unused Miditracks and never touch them in Nuendo or on the McMix..

Logic spec for video files has always been DV codec as far as I know. Not surprised if h264 is unhappy.

Bummer -- I got all excited there for a minute. It's actually a review of the 15K MC Pro, cool, to be sure, but not the same thing.

Picked up two wed. One has a bad ethernet connector, sending it back. Nice units, but still a ways to go with software updates before it runs smoothly. Needs a shift button lock feature so you dont have to keep your finger pressed down while using transport etc. Doesnt let you add plugs from list in logic only eq so far, but does edit parameters of already inserted plugs. Switching between Logic and protools seemed fine, can be pretty sluggish and freezes and drops out pretty consistantly. Not ready for prime time yet so if your are a pro you may want to wait for round two. Way too glitchy for pro use right now, but they will be fine after the software is fixed.

You can do this in the Insert Knobset... press shift and the two config buttons and the puts you in config mode where you can add any plugin to any insert slot.

You can lock shift by pressing the two shift buttons at the same time.

Read the Manual! You can add plugins using config mode.

I just talked to someone at Euphonix and they said banking functionality will be extended beyond 32 tracks in the next release!

I was told time ago that in Pro Tools using HUI protocol controllers it's not possible to flip plug-in controls to the faders, and that touch sensitive encoders don't work as touch sensitive, it doesn't write automation just with touching them.

Could anyone bear out if it is like this with this one too?

Thank you.

Touch works with these. You can't toggle automation modes from the surface yet, but Euphonix tech says it's going to be in an upcoming release.

I've used flip with PTLE and it works but it's buggy. It's like being in trim mode all the time.

still having trouble getting plug ins to pop up in logic arrange window when I select them for editing (other than eq)....anyone figure this out yet? Still lots of bugs, after removing plugs, mc mix still shows them as being inserted on controller. Oh well, as long as faders, pans, mutes, and solos work, Im good for now.

That's better than "it doesn't work and it won't"

This controller seems to be a good option for Pro Tools too.

Thank you.

Just found out it´s not the videocodecs, which causes a crash - it was the trackNAME!

Eucon crashes if you use letters like "ö" or "ü".

[quote=pixelhead;1853740]Well... I had to take them down and put the Mackies back up. They are really to slow for everyday work in a working studio. The Mackies are instant on everything. so I guess the answer on Eucon being way faster than midi is a moot point right now till Apple and Euphonixs get these worked out. Mine are going back to the dealer today, till I can see the same speed in Logic as running with the Mackies.

Ditto.... one of mine keeps dropping offline and the other is to sluggish for client work. I sure hope its only software related because these are perfect for my desk but at almost 2 grand for the pair I think I'll stick with the mackies also until I know these are fixed.

Fix

I hope they have an update for this MCMIX soon!
I was also told by tech support that In pro tools we will get more than 32 tracks of banking as well as be able to toggle trough read/write modes.

Everything seems buggy to me. Sometimes you can select and edit plug ins and sometimes you cant. You can toggle to the mixer screen but theres no way to toggle back to the edit screen. Also at the top of the fader are two tiny buttons (on,sel)
the manual has nothing about them does anyone know what they do?

I think it's really cool to have a control surface that's "driven" by software! This means bugs and feature requests get implemented relatively quickly.

For example: Euphonix told me there's going to be a release this week 1.0.2 is going to include banking beyond 32 tracks for HUI and Mackie Control apps. I don't think the automation toggle thing for HUI is going in yet, but I've been talking to tech support about that as well, and they said it's a known feature request that'll go in soon. I also sent a message about the devices dropping offline. Again, known bug, addressed in a future release. I sent my request to the online support form and got a quick response. My next one went to artist@euphonix.com and got responded to over the weekend!

I've noticed that the plug ins knobsets in HUI are a bit tricky to navigate. If you go into inserts, you have to back out, then go back in again.

In Eucon apps like Logic, SEL key switches freq to Q and ON key toggles EQ bands, binary switch parameters or even plugins on and off.

I just found out you can edit instrument parameters in Pro Tools! Load an instrument plug in in the first 8 channels of a project, it shows up in the inserts knobset! fun fun fun.
