Thanks.
Try pushing the red button on the back of the unit to the opposite of where you currently have it.

Ohhh...hmmm...that button actually came broken out of the box, the 192k button...I am waiting for GearOrphanage to get a replacement, I didn't think that would effect being able to use it at 48k in the meantime though...I wonder if that's the problem. Boooooo.

The build quality on these seems to be an issue. I'm going to do some shootouts tonight and see if I can come to any conclusions regarding sound, and if it's worth keeping. Having second thought due to the build issues alone, I'd like something that will last.

Hi,
We just wanted to come on here and inform everyone that some of our earlier units that shipped out started to develop problems. These problems have since been corrected. If anyone is having a problem with their Sparrow, please contact us and we will take care of the problem immediately.

We now have sound clips of the Sparrow on our 002 signature page. Please have a listen

My unit may have some intermittent popping *(one of the earlier batches) is this a common issue?

Thanks for the sound clips.... It was cool to hear them side by side and the Mytek too. I had a good listen to them and was curious about what mics and mic positioning were used for them. Were the clips from the same take using different mics? Or were they different takes using the same mic in the exact same position. I can hear slight tone differences in each, which makes me wonder if there were variables in the micing. But it sounds to me like there is something different going on with the bass notes in the Mytek sample. Was the mic closer to the soundhole? The low end sounded good and had a nice transparent quality to it, but seemed to have a slight boxiness to the tone at a certain point. Not an expert here....Hmmm. Any comments?

Thanks,
Will

If you've got plenty of RAM and efficient DAW software, the latency should be close to zilch. And what a clean path in. Everything processes in the MBP and clocks to its chip. Sweet.
I have a MacBook Pro and I'm looking into getting a Sparrow and Logic Pro to be able to some simple but high quality piano/vocal recordings. I have some questions about the Sparrow and M-Audio CO2. Basically, my question is this...

If I get a Sparrow and a CO2 would I be able to record or would I need other gear, like a 2 channel mic pre, or a Firewire interface?

Does the M-Audio come with drivers? How does the DAW software recognize the Sparrow signal?

If I wanted 4,6,8 channels of A/D could I simply add and combine Sparrows or would I run into the same problems that the Mac/Duet has with aggregating?

dude I think you´re a little off track...

You´ll need the CO2 to make the Sparrow reach your macbook or macbook pro, because the computer only accept OPTICAL SPDIF and the Sparrow only spits COAXIAL SPDIF (and AES but that doesn´t help).

The CO2 doesn´t need any drivers at all, it´s just a plug´n play signal converter, it doesn´t need to "talk" to the computer.

Yes, you´ll need a microphone AND a microphone preamp BEFORE the signal reaches the Sparrow ´cause the Sparrow only accepts line level signal.

If you need more than 2 channels at a time, you´ll need some other audio interface and if you need another audio interface, FORGET about using the internal audio card aggregated with some other interface if you need lower latencies.

Hope I helped a little...
