On the note of BFD, BFD 2 is going to support importing of custom samples. So, for example, you could load all the Z1's into a "bank" as one snare. Then you could load all the Z4's of that snare into another bank. Run two snares at once triggering off of the same midi note or whatever and adjust the level of the Z4 to the desired taste.

I could be way off base, but that's what I have gathered from both. I know I'm going to be snagging BFD2 AND the Slate 2.0 pack....no doubt about it.

all the kits will be different sizes. For instance, this Nirvana Nevermind INSPIRED kit:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/NIRVANA.wav

has a kick, snare, and two oversized toms

this kit, inspired by the sounds of Metallica:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/METALLICA.wav

has a kick snare and four toms and a bunch of extra cymbals too

There is going to be plenty of velocities so that things will sound ultra natural and will play perfectly, without taking up a thousand gigs of hard drive space. There are also real one handed rolls that when combined make natural sounding drum rolls.

BTW, the Led Zep models are sounding nice. They are slightly modernized but have a nice old school big room vibe to them. Now we just need to program Bonham.

I have a new METALLICA inspired snare and snare reverb (I had to model the reverb since it is far from natural sounding) done today. Its more authentic and sounds more like the original. Metallica fans will be happy.

Here is that new Metallica updated kit that gideon is talking about:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/METALLICA3.wav

Its pretty ridiculous how close he got these sounds. In fact all the modeled kits are pretty dead on, with the exception that most of them sound a bit better! I'm as excited for 2.0 be done as everyone else, its going to rock.

We sell overseas all the time, Italy, Finland, UK, Denmark, you name it, we'll ship it there. :)

The current 1.5 Elite Mixer Series is for Wav/Drumagog but all of those hits, plus the new Signature Drumkit hits will be mapped for a variety of software samplers for 2.0.

We have some new Signature Drumkit demos coming this week, awesome stuff!

Ok, that is just MY taste... the new Metallice snare sounds cool, but to be honest, I found the one in the older demo better. The new one sounds almost a bit "exaggerated" to me... too "dominating"... don't know how to put it better... anyway, that's just me. Just wanted to tell my opinion. Everybody else's MMV of course...

No need to dodge, an opinion is an opinion. The older demo's snare sounded good, but it was not as authentic a model. If you compare to some of the songs on the album, I believe you'll find the new one to sound pretty close. Maybe I'll offer the old one as an alternative option since it also has a nice metal sound to it. Either way, I'm glad I'm done with it because listening to that snare all day for a week was not good on the ole ear drums. The RUSH snare that I'm doing now is a lot easier to handle!

Are you doing a Deftones - Around the Fur kit? Or possibly White Pony?....although Abe played multiple kits for that record and when Terry mixed it, he would mix the kits together in the same song....so that might be a little difficult.

But Around the Fur would rock!....Hell, Any of Abe's sounds would rock!

some of the stuff in the current package was already modeled after the Deftones, Snare 5 is a morph of the snare from White Pony and Around the Fur... check this out:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo/deftonessnarekick.mp3

However, I do know that Steven is probably going to further tweak it even more, although it sounds pretty darn close to me.

Not if I can help it! We're hoping for a November release. And when its done, it'll be the last drum software you'll ever need.

I'm listening to the RUSH inspired beta kit now... wow. This product rocks.

I assume you mean the "Black album"... well, yes, the new one might sound closer, but I would really be happy to have the old one included as an alternative...

You're doing this stuff and still have ear drums...??? I thought they have already been blown out and you are doing that stuff like Beethoven wrote his last few symphonies... being deaf!!!

Anyway, kudos to you for the great product and being such a friendly guy answering (potential and existing) customers' questions and wishes so fast!

Wht not?

Diversity is King. The Beatles...Stones... a few that go 'bang' instead of 'Bang'!

I know there are softer hits included that are useable, but a softly struck Lars Ulrich kit sounds considerably different than a medium struck Star/Watts kit.

Maybe one day? You're doing a fantastic job, Stephen.

+1 here.... it would be great to hear a vintage classics/ esoteric set with this approach... I know it's been done by others, but I bet you could do it the best!

Meters
Stones
Bowie
Joy Division
Fleetwood Mac

to name a few...

ha, there have been a lot of great suggestions, and I can say that there will be some fantastic models in the 2.0 collection, as well as MANY other general kits like a soft rock kit, a few pop kits, etc... There are tons of unique hits in the whole Elite Collection that will map out beautifully into various kits.

Also, we've added an ultra soft velocity to the original 1.0 snares.

For the Tommy Lee inspired kit... three songs, three pretty different sounds... lets vote here which you think should be the model:
Primal Scream
Hooligans Holiday
Kickstart My Heart

all have great clips on iTunes

tell me which drum sound you think is best and why
