This isn't really the place to come in withbig bold fonts, though.

Hey guys, as tugs said, we are at AES this weekend so if we are slow to get back to people's emails, we apologize. Today I'll be getting back to everyone personally. Andre we'll take care of you, no worries.

As for updates.. as I said when our original collection came out last December, all initial customers would be rewarded with free updates for life, and we have stuck to that so far with 1.5 and will do so with 2.0. Everyone who bought it after what we call the "initial phase" which ended August 17th with the release of 1.5, will still get all upgrades at a very FAIR price, just like tons of other software companies. So we're not sticking it to anyone, especially our valued customers. The free updates are a luxury of getting in with us early, but again, you're not going to go poor if you want to upgrade and you are not in the initial purchaser category.

So AES was great, I got to hang with some great people and check out some fantastic new gear. But more importantly, we'll be announcing some cool stuff with the 2.0 release. But for now, keep checking this thread as we'll begin posting more modeled demos soon. Here are the first four again:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/NIRVANA.wav (modeled after the drum sounds of Nirvana

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/RHCP.wav (modeled after the drum sounds of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/METALLICA.wav (modeled after the drum sounds of Metallica)

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo2/ACDC.wav modeled after the drum sounds of AC/DC

All should be good now, we've spent the last few hours getting back to EVERYONE. If we missed you, email us again!

When we get back there will be new drumkit models of many more classic sounding kits, fully tweaked, fully preset to sound amazing right out of the sampler. We are super excited about this. On the AES floor we were jamming the four teaser demos and the feedback was incredible.

No, we will not rely on ANY built in DSP from any of the samplers, everything will be preprocessed so that it works and sounds perfect right from the start. This will also ensure that there will be a universal sound that will not change from sampler to sampler. Good question.

So you are actually making more sample sets outside the regular z system? That would be cool, only if there are sample maps for the regular versions as well though. ;)

No, everything will remain in the Z system. Its just that they will not come preset with any DSP tweakings, because the idea behind all our stuff is that its done already.

And everything from the ELITE collection will be included in various, customizeable kits, plus more drums that are modeled after classic albums such as the whole new suite of drums inspired by Metallica, etc..

i can't wait for this. sounds like it's going to be amazing for
programming realistic sounding drum tracks that will fit in a mix already.
this is why i got in early. this sounds like exactly what i've been waiting for.

i know you don't like to give release dates, but are you guys shooting to have 2.0 released in a couple months or so (i.e. maybe by the end of the year)? thanks!

Our Goal is for an initial release in November, with more sampler mappings very soon after. There will be two different packages, one with more kits. We are going to have some more "modeled" demos coming soon. The current ones were a huge hit at AES, lots of people were pretty darn excited.

yeah it was, but then I had that kooky idea to model some of the best sounding drumkits on some classic albums and that pushed everything back... so blame it on me :) ... all the suits here wanted it out before AES.

BUT the good news is, when its out, its going to kick major ass! As Joel said the feedback on the first four demos is pretty awesome, but the next four are going to wow you even more.

All I can say is, we have a new intern who will be injecting Starbucks into my blood stream, and we're going to get this update done!

Hey Bang,

when I listened to the ACDC and Metallice style demos I almost wetted my pants. They are incredible! Never heard such a good drum sound from samples before. I am very happy that it also comes in EXS format! Definitely a future buyer here!

A question: Although these big, punchy sounds are what I also need most, are the included kits all of that kind, or do you also include some kits for "softer styles"?

Also, how much HD space will be required? I bet it must be lots, since you surely do have lots of velocity layers and use lots of sample alteration per note?

Most of those hits in the demos sounded like the harder hits in his collection, Slate also has softer hits and medium ones that are not rimshots and could easily fit into softer music.

The new demos sound great, especially the Nirvana kit, which reminds me a little bit of the Melvins on "Stoner Witch". The Metallica kit sounds better than the original.

Oh. My. Wow.

I've been away for a week and a half on a family trip and just saw this post and heard the new demos. DAMN. They sound so killer that I literally got the chills. This will be so darned useful for someone like me. I need this like now Steven! And I get it for free hell yeah!!!!!!! Please come out with a Reason mapping upon the initial release. If you come out with a BFD version I may have to re-buy BFD.

I agree that all of the demos sound VERY much like the originals, only more modern and BETTER. The Metallica demo... whoa. Nailed it but more hifi even. This company rocks. This and the SSL DAW software are the most exciting things coming out in my opinion. Its a fun time to be in the industry.

Steven has two Led Zep inspired kits almost done. He's also adding a Dream Theater inspired kit too, due to popular demand.

We will have a Battery mapping, although maybe not at the initial release.

BTW, we've had a lot of emails asking about pricing and upgrading... the bottom line is that everyone who purchases the current ELITE MIXER sample collection will save money by purchasing the 2.0 upgrade, which combined, will stillend up being cheaper then the NEW 2.0 price. Hope that makes sense.

Joel

Hey there,

How about those without samplers? Will you still offer the samples in .aiff or .wav format?

Thanks!
