PCI-E is a serial architecture. Each PCI-E device is on its own 'bus' vs. legacy PCI devices all sharing resources. I believe that running all pci-e versions of your system devices will eliminate all the IRQ crap that DAW guys wrestle with.
Plus the bandwidth is better (250 full duplex PER x1 LANE!! vs. 133 shared with all slots+onboard devices). More tracks PLUS more space for your UAD-1, Liquid Mix, Duende etc. to operate (The latter two running on PCI-E Firewire cards). Ostensibly, no hardware conflicts anymore...? one can only hope

So it will be easier to build Audio PC's at least....
Us Mac guys never dealt with IRQ's!!!!

I know! Damn it all to hell!!

A Mac is an inevitability for me, though. Hopefully I won't have to replace any more PC parts before I cross over in a couple years.

So how is it going to compare to the latency specs of the Apogee Symphony Cards?

I think it's a pitty that the L22 is not supporting 192kHz with its digital I/O. That's what we'd need for our setup.

So the last word is still mid Dec huh? This blows. I have a brand spanking new UA 2192 sitting here that I can't use. Sucks.

There was another thread talking about this and I did respond. Here's the latest. Lynx is looking at the end of Jan. right now because there were some driver/software issues that reared their heads at the last stage of development. Lynx does not want to release anything but a stable and solid solution (which I think we'd all agree with) and therefore has pushed back the release. No one is happy about it but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Also, although they have it pretty much in the bag for the end of Jan., they have said that should another show stopper issue popup between now and then, they will once again hold back the release until all is well.

It's been OVER a year though man, that they haven't released this card. So when the hell are they going to release the rest of their product line in the PCI express format. I've been waiting forever. If the AES card is taking this long, than how long for the rest of the product line??? I guess really don't want to go to a Firewire format but I guess that would be the only solution for now. It's a real bummer that they are dragging their feet......

Great news for me... I just recently decided that I wanted to use this card as a core component of a mobile rig (going to use a Magma ExpressCARD to PCIe expansion). My decision happens to almost coincide with a potential release of the unit, but too bad for everyone else that has been waiting for over a year. I think I'm going to get the non-SRC version, I can't seem to think of any reason why I would need that feature at the moment.

I doubt it'll ever happen but I'd love to see an Expresscard 34 card that mates to a proprietary L Slot card. Expresscard 34 AES/EBU card would also work. Anyone not wanting FW to get into a notebook, you need one or two intermediary boxes. It's an expensive proposition and not very elegant.

With this much R&D Time for something so simple, it had better be a rival for Symphony, at least that'd be worth waiting for.

I am considering of changing my MOTU HD192 into a new Lynx Aurora 16 with the upcomming AES 16e .
Let's say I do understand that manufactures want to test to a 100 % perfect product.
And making a good working card is just not that simple as said above this post.
You have to take care of the fact that is has to work reliable and be steady for a long period.
But just with the winter NAMM comming up it should be a challance to get the presentation there and release it after.
I hope they are aware that a lot, and I think realy a lot, of Logic users are waiting for this card.
Another thing they should understand is that in making music a MAC is still one of the leading trade marks.
And in the new MAC pros there are PCIe cards which means there are a whole world of potential customers.
We'll see if they reach end of januari.
For example my active mix cubes were payed in june last year and they are shipped in the first week of februari this year.
So I'll take a deep breath this time on this product also

Greetz,

Paul

I just heard from my supplier who has just spoken to Lynx directly. Its late February now for the AES-16e and quite honestly that sucks big time. Would I have waited all this time had Lynx been straight up from the start? Absolutely not. And as a result I feel I've lost all trust, faith and respect for Lynx now and RME are just as bad. How can it take them 2 years longer than MOTU and Apogee to develop a PCIe card. What a load of bollox.
