Pro Tools... AHHHH!!!!

Ok, so I'm new to the Pro Tools realm. Really my experience with PT is limited at best but I've been using ableton Live for a couple years now for my band's demos and whatnot so I know a bit about mixing.

I've got a TonePort UX8 which has been working nicely for me and I really like it. I know that I can't use it to record in ProTools (which is SO LAME!!!) but is there a way I can use ReWire to bounce tracks from Ableton into PT?

Pro Tools won't even start up without a compatible interface attached to your machine, sorry.

no you cant record audio via ableton live while using pro tools.

you can however, use the spdif output of the toneport into your mbox spdif input.

that way you can record through the toneport.

Why are you trying to switch to Pro Tools?

Mostly because its a standard. Personally, I've always had great success with Ableton.

but the studio that I record in uses PT (obviously) and I would like to do the mixes myself.

I'm tempted to go for the MBox 2 Micro (just output) and get used to the program for mixing and if I like it then I'll upgrade my interface.
