Sorry that didn't have the resolution it might have, but good for you. You and she both know that you were thorough and that you gave it one last, last try even. Both of you are better served being out of the relationship at that point. Whatever frustrations linger about what might have been, you can move forward feeling positive about both how you handled and what you took from the endgame.

On to the next indeed. Good luck with it!

Hey Vitamin,

You gave great advice. I used some of your ideas during our last meeting which I thought was productive. Nevertheless, she still placed the project and myself, way down in her priority list. Not the most dedicated individual I've seen...live and learn and on to the next adventure..

that's not an unusual story. Also with the money involved and the "joint venture".

I would see the importance of being involved with the "life" or conduction of, or dharma.
Female newbies often seek the guy to be with in some "Bonnie and Clyde" adventure. Everything must be HOT to actually do it. It is important to discover the prioritiy of the artistic message they want to tell. "I want to sing" is not enough. Though, there are many specialists who can deal with that, e.g. rappers who know exactly how to handle their "hook chorus bitch" of the week. They know how to get women involved and excited of something they do. They are not called pimps for nothing. some are pampering the pretty little nose with good spices...
(not stereotyping, but those who do.)
Sometimes exactly the sorrow of such a lifestyle can create the artistic strength and relevance of a female artist.
So if there is gap of a human or social role you don't want to get into, you may a) get an artist involved that can fascinate her, or b) sell her to such an artist/producer on some artist development condition. perhaps some work can be re-used, and a melody be licensed.
btw in case she is asian, perhaps you need to get her parents on the bandwagon.

A sad bizarre reality of the music business is that it's not at all uncommon for artists to shoot themselves in the foot when they begin to see the very real possibility of success. Artists have to want it bad enough to take the risk that the only thing they are going to be able to blame failure on is themselves. Too many would rather live in a fantasy world of what they might have done if the odds hadn't been stacked against them by "the industry."

I'm not sure how you predict this. Most of the label execs I've known are far more worried about this than almost any other factor when they are considering signing an artist. It's another reason success performing live always makes a huge difference to a label. All of the artist development and promotion money in the world only gets the horse into the starting gate. The horse still needs to run and win the race.
