Dunno about your platform, these are my choices on AU.

- reverb: Altiverb 5
- eq: Sonalksis MK517 - UAD1 Pultec - UAD1 Neve
- amp simulator for guitars and basses: (not an expert here)
- compressor: Sonalksis SV315 - UAD1 1176 - UAD1 LA2A
- delay: FabFilter Timeless - UAD1 Roland RE201
- mastering bundle: (not an expert here, best to leave it to a mastering engineer)

Amp sim: Guitar Rig 2, McDSP Chrome Tone, Sansamp

Delay: Lexicon PSP42, UAD-1 RE-201, Digirack Delay (just cuz I use it all the time)

After an extended session last night and a first opportunity to really work with Sonalksis I gotta say:

Sonalksis CQ1
Sonalksis DQ1 both just unvbelievable in their precision to isolate frequencies and adjust.

TC Powercore - especially VSS3
URS
Waves Ren Comp & EQ

Honorable mention:

Voxengo Marquis Comp
Neodynium

the ones i tend to lean on most are
channel strip (eq/comp/gate): metric halo channelstrip (mac only)
reverb: artsacoustic reverb (absolutely killer for not a lot of $) and altiverb5.
delays: psp 42,84,806MD, izotope spectron
bus compression (for subgroups or "quasi-mastered test mixdowns"): izotope ozone3
eq: motu masterworks eq (stock dp plug), (now roger nichols) firium or eqium
amp sim: liked amplitube, but mostly use izotope trash or a sansamp outboard.
and a big shout out to inspector xl.
some of the wavearts stuff is pretty good too, i just seldom find myself reaching for them much these days. sonalksis stuff also has a good rep...just haven't tried them yet.
i kept things native, as i run on a laptop, and all of my interfaces are tied up already! though i had a powercore pci ages ago, and really liked it, too.

Some stuff worth demoing that has not been mentioned,

Compressor: PSP MasterComp/MixPressor(MixPack)
EQ: PSP Neon HR/Master Q, the Neon probably being the "better" one but they work very nicely together imo.
Eliosound, personally I would use this as a track EQ for low/high.

Ozone3 is a great multiprocessor too if you don't expect a complete mastering package that beats all competition, it has the best EQ interface I've tried with really workable hotkeys.

I've become a real big fan of Voxengo over the last 2 years. The more I use and get to know them (and one or two take some time before they reveal their secrets) the more pleasant suprises I get. Must haves:

Soniformer (will all it's potentials ever be discovered?)
GlissEQ (dynamic eq which I use on vox to avoid silibance)
CurveEQ (easy and versatile - some interesting gear emulations)
HarmoniEQ (very sweet - very not brash)
Marquis Compressor (I'm new to this compressor - flavoursome)
Pristine Space (convolution reverb)

I use this on all acoustic stuff and it suits me well.
