Logic Audio experts... tracking help please

Hello all...
So, I'm relatively good at the MIDI side of Logic these days... well, at least the way I end up using it, but I'm a little behind on the audio side. I use it to bounce in my MIDI tracks and then move to ProTools for tracking and mixing. Today, I'm doing a dance production, and I think I'm going to want to cut the vocals in Logic without the time it takes to move to PT.

Here's my question: is there a way to make Logic behave more like PT when punching in? After punching a take ProTools returns to the place where I started playing from from when I hit the spacebar. Logic sets its locator where I punch in, so I have to reset where I want to play from everytime I punch.

I have my key commands set up sort of like Vision used to be, so that when I hit return it stops and goes to the last play position, but that doesn't work when punching in.

Thanks for the help.

Hi

You can record in cycle more and have logic "auto create tracks in cycle" as well as "auto mute tracks in cycle" (its a song option, I believe). Then you simply record in a loop (as determined by the left and right locators) and comp the resultant tracks together.

Logic will automatically play from the left locator if the cycle is engaged.

If you don't feel like using the loop, you can set up markers and then assign a key command for "go to next marker" or you can simply use the transport's ff or rw buttons to cycle between marker locations. The help documentation in logic will explain any particulars here.

Cheers!

Hmmm, I guess that wasn't quite what I was looking for... but I guess I'll have to figure out a different way to work than I really want to... like ProTools.

I guess the question is, why does punching on the fly reset the "play position" to the punch point, and not stay where I actually started playing from.

Thanks anyway...

Drives me nuts for years, too.
There are quite some things in Logic that I wouldn´t call ergonomic or elegant...

Well, least I'm not the only one... and here I thought I just didn't know what I was doing.

Thanks.
