Merry Christmas. Since 'tis the season for giving, I thought I'd give it up to TekServe in NY.

Admittedly I am a snob and customer service buff. I rarely get the opportunity to acknowledge good customer svc, mainly bc I don't encounter it much.

My 1yr old G4 Pwr Book (purchased directly from Apple) had a bad CD Burner, as diagnosed over the phone by Apple's tech.

I walked in to TekServe on 23 St on Tuesday, 1pm. I took a # and waited 15" to see a tech. The guy was attentive and actually listened to me. They said they'd do the repair gratis but it would take 5 days to get the part from Apple. I could then bring my unit in and leave it for 2 days for the actual repair. This was already a better deal than Digital Society offered me; bring it in and they'd look at it in 5 days....This way I could still record and mix projects I was working on.

Then the tech checked inventory again and was surprised to see they had the part in stock!

They called me later that day at 7pm to tell me it was fixed - 16 hrs ahead of schedule. They weren't even supposed to have the part in stock.

I picked it up at 8:30 Tuesday - same day, brought it home, and started burning CD's w/out incident.

VERY IMPRESSIVE TekServe!

Ho Ho Ho!
