second computer for virtual instruments

i would like to try running a second computer for virtual instruments only, but i would like any advice or suggestions for the easiest way of doing so.

im running nuendo 3.2 with an apogee rosetta into a lynx aes16. . .

whats the best way to connect a second computer?

If it's only virtual instruments, I would take a PC and run something like V-Stack (or similar products). There you can combine up to 16 Instruments. Then you need a Midi Interface or MidiOverLan, (which I highly recommend) and then you need an Audio-Interface fot obvious reasons. There you go

I have 2 extern PC's running, both with RME Hammerfalls and MidiOverLan. Audioreturns via ADAT in my PT. Clocking via Nanosync. Works perfect !

I use to do this before "rewire". I used another mac to run reason. My main mac was hosting PTLE....both puters to a DA7 Digital mixer, both puter synced via midi and word clock.Mixed on the DA7, and recorded the 2 track back into LE.
