Time stretch - any good?

I'm a solo artist and hired session players to do drums and bass. We're done tracking and I'm finding I'd prefer a slower tempo on a few songs. The studio with which I"m working has PTLE but I also have access to Logic. I have no experience with time stretching and I don't know if these engineers have much experience with it.

Can anyone tell me more about it? Is there a loss of audio quality when all is said and done? Does it deflate the groove? Of the two platforms I mentioned, is one better than the other for this? Anything tricks to doing it right? Any cautions?

We're talking 2-4 bpm reduction so nothing too large however, I think it would make a significant musical difference. Obviously I learned my lesson. But if there is someway to salvage the tracks without having to re-record (which would cost a lot of money), I'll take it. I'm somewhat new at this and haven't had much experience adding drums to my songs. This may sound strange but they make the songs sound faster than when I'm playing them solo acoustic.

Thanks,

JPM
