You betcha... I've got most of these. I don't know why these don't get much love here, but they are simply outstanding plug ins. These are very reasonably priced and the developer is personally very active on his user forum.

i bought 2 UAD cards a month or so ago and couldnt be happier. The plugs are fantastic. i have used Waves stuff in the past but UA kills them. Also i will never support a company like Waves again with all that WUP bulls***...I'm sure the SSL bundle is great but screw that...

Yeah, the voxengo AF series is great. I use the Tape plug all over every mix I have ever done. I also use the delay and Chorus too. The Voxengo compressors are ok, I usually go URS, PSP or Waves for compressors...but Waves is a dirty word in this thread..so try PSP..the mixpressor is fantastic.

Yea my stinking putrid hatred for waves is what started this thread

anyways, emgbiotch, do you mean the quality is great but also the functionality? I mean, can you get away with a good amount of instances of plugins? can you give me an example please?

I have had no problems running as many plugs as i want using 2 cards...i see a ton of people complaining constantly about how the card is not powerfull enough blah blah..

then again i stem mix to about 10 stereo tracks and thats when i start using the UA plugins on each of the 10 or so stereo tracks...no problems....

they sound fantastic, and the interfaces are so nice...well worth the $$$

I agree that whatever limitations are imposed by the DSP on the UAD cards are far outweighed by the sheer quality of the plugins themselves. I'd rather use only a few UAD plugs than a ton of lesser quality plugs.

I'll Chime in here as a UAD Voxengo, PSP, Waves, and Wave Arts Track Plug user.

These are all great plugs, what you want to do is this. Get at least one UAD to start with (decide on the pack you want) The way I went about is worked out where I use most of my plugs.

I usually always end up with a comp and eq on most tracks..so that's where I thought it best to have the necessary DSP and decent selection of qulity plugs. I mainly start with UAD the 1176 or LA2A for comp (I might reach for the Waves ren comp for some vocals dependant on the voice and what I'm trying to do, or if I'm running out of UAD DSP) Think I'm goin to look at Sonalksis or URS as some additional alternative also.

Eq wise it's either the UAD Cambridge for some precision cutting or the Pultech Pro for some gentle boosting. If I run out of UAD DSP (which is rare) I then go fo the Track Plug 5 which is pretty transparent but still kinda warm. I want another alternative here also. Might look at the Elisound Air Eq for this or maybe the UAD Neve.

I tend not to use the UAD for reverb (although the Plate 140 is real nice) so as not to eat the DSP up. I haven't got the Neve stuff either, and between that and the mastering plugs is where the DSP gets eaten. I just bought Voxengo Elephant for the Limiting and yes does sound great, and I use Harbal for my mastering Eq.

So even if you start with one card and select plugs, then get a few native ones mentioned in this thread or just keep some of the Waves till your WUP runs out. You'll have all the plugs you need to get great sounding mixes at a reasonable price.

You can always add more cards or plugs as you need them.

Sony for the limiter.
McDsp for the Multiband.

that said ... the sony's are still imvho the best plugins for dynamics and EQ.

Many can match the quality of the L2/L3.
Try Kjaerhus MPL Pro Limiter or UAD Precision Limiter. Make your own tests an you will hear that the L2/L3 does not play at the same high level as newer plugins!

Today there are no needs for Waves Buy a UAD and you will be happy

Any plugins out there that can match the quality of the L2 or L3? And the Linear Multiband compressor?
