Rewire (or audio) via ethernet

hey sluts,

iám using a macbook and another pc which i have connected via gigabit lan ethernet.
now i´m searching for an application which gives me the power of both machines via ethernet. there are 2 different ways to get the machines connected.

first: audio via lan:

Wormhole2 - now simpler and more powerful.

Wormhole2 is for audio professionals and musicians, allowing routing of audio between machines on a network. Now you can make use of all the processing power in your studio. For example; set aside a machine for complex instruments or effects, route audio out to it, then back into your favorite DAW. Or route audio between your PCs and Macs to get the best of both worlds. Or share audio between laptops on stage. Or or or... there are lots of possibilities!

Features:

Audio Unit and VST plugin for Mac OS X and VST for Windows
Transmits audio over TCP/IP
Super Low Latency on a LAN
One 44 kHz Mono Channel requires 175 kBit/sec
Works with any Network Interface (Ethernet, Firewire, Airport)
Works with any Audio Units host such as Logic, Garageband, Cubase, Live, Digital Performer, Soundtrack, Metro, ...
Can be used on a single machine to send audio between applications or to send audio between multiple computers.

Wormhole2 is available for Mac VST + Audio Unit and Windows VST. All are included in purchase.

This seems to be a good solution of what í was searching for. but in my opinion a connection like rewire via lan is much more comfortable.

2.

is there any program which does it via rewire? for example: running a program like melodyne on macbook and recording to it and rewire it into cubase onto the other pc.

i read about updsend in combination with max/msp but it sounds a bit too freaky get it running.

to obviate any answers regarding fx-teleport and it´s solution: i know this way of working but want to get a working chain instead of only outsourcing the power. every pc should get it´s own processes.

Definitely. I'm curious about using in tandem with my own rig.

I'm interested in only hosting PC-based VSTs on my PC and using Logic on a Macbook Pro. Curious if it's possible to use it this way.

Anyone ever used wormhole????
