MOTU Express XT-logic-macbook pro crash.

Hello all,

just migrated from a PBg4 1.67 to a new macbook pro C2D.

Everything running smoothly in Logic but i keep on getting a kernel panic that seems to be related to my MIDI interface.

This is the error i get in the report, after i restart:

Mon Nov 13 14:36:43 2006

i don't really understand what all that means, but i can see it has to do with my midi drivers for the MOTU express xt.I installed the lates intel compatible drivers from motu too(1.34)

I tried with the midi interface connected straight to the macbook pro as opposed to a hub, but i get the same results.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried trashing and reinstalling your drivers? I have had this problem in the past (although I don't know if the kernel error is the same) and this is what solved it - sometimes they get corrupted.

Good luck!
-Mike

Edit: make sure you empty the trash before you reinstall

Thanks mike,

yeah, i reinstalled/uninstalled, etc...

now i am back to an old emagic MT4 and all is fine.

I read on a logic user board that it is an issue with motu drivers and Intel machines.

I guess i'll just have to wait and hope for them to fix it(ie buy a new interface tomorrow.
)

its always a good idea not to migrate your data onto the new machine from the old one (an option when you first load on your new machine) if this is what you have done.

this tends to really slow down the machine. i always reinstall from scratch.

might not be the problem here, but i have seen mac books kernel panic alot when just running safari, mail and itunes...
