Upgrading and XP

What you think about my prospects with
changing motherboard and processor and
trying to avoid installing everything inc. o.s.
from the scratch?
My schelude is bit tight and installing everything
would take some 3-4 days, I guess.
Sure a clean install is the better way to go but
I could do that later -if needeed- as my combination of programs
and plugins is just optimal for the projects ahead right now
Regards
Matti

I did that with my last computer.

I had an Intel Pentium 4 and changed over to AMD 64 bit 3 gigHz. it worked without a problem but, I had the wrong PCIbridge.. blahblah.. installed and my computer was slowed down due to that problem.

btw.. some plugins generate their activationkey with the number of your CPU (internal checknr.) so this might be a problem.

yeah.. just give it a try.

cheers

If time is tight and you can't take the time now to do it 'the right way'... why are you considering doing this now? Is there some problem you are trying to solve?

I dont reccomend it. While it sucks to have to re-install from scratch, it is the best way to avoid nightmares in the future.

Thanks!
The reason for the upgrade is going for better
track counts with a double core processor.
I just might be sporty and try the "easy" way first
and if that gives problems it takes only 5 minutes
to format that hd.

Well, I did that and with a success but I feel my Nuendo is not
seeing the other processor unlike some other
programs I have... Any hints?
