instead of maxxbass/renaissance bass

Can anyone here recommend a plug-in that does the same thing as maxxbass /renaissance bass, but that's not a waves plug-in. I don't want to purchase an expensive Waves bundle just to get one of these plugs (they're not sold seperately

Thanks,

E

PSP has a bundle called the MixPack, it has a plugin called MixBass which is very good IMHO.

The Renaissance package is not expensive at all and it also includes some other great plugs like the rem comp, ren deesser, ren channel and ren eq.

With the right dealer you are probably looking at about $350 which in the world of quality plugs is a pretty decent price

BTW - just started using a new technique using Ren. bass - to really lock in the kick and bass use the plug on both tracks at the same settings. It works quite nicely.

p.s. cut highs and mids on the track/s to open up the the headroom for bass freq

or in other words ; judicous eq use that doesn't rely on boosting alone

but considers the net effect of eq across many tracks /sources to work together as a

whole.

If doing electronica or hip hop start with good samples

if recording live: acoustics mic/ technique.

finally think about eq and comp.

you may know all of this , but just in case its useful to someone. ..... ..

i never liked the result of these bass enhancers... they seem to distort the bass or mess with the phase. the only thing i would use them for is to prepare sounds for 8bit multimedia... but even that i haven't done for a long while...

they just don't sound good to me. that goes for any of the plugins mentioned.
