Hey Lynx users - a question

Is the mixer application that comes with it similar to MOTU's Cuemix, Metric Halo's MIO Console, etc?

Someone on the Yahoo Logic board mentioned preferring to bypass Logic's mixbus in favor of summing in RME's TotalMix, and I wondered if a similar tactic was feasable with the Lynx cards. If so, izzit competitive with the internal summing in the DAW heavyweights? (I recognize that DAW summing is an issue unto itself, but I can be content with something comparable to PT/Logic/Nuendo).

The reason I wonder: alongside a long-strategized upgrade to my AD/DA, I've lately been playing around with Raw Material's Tracktion app; I'm enjoying the interface and I'd like to take a stab at using it more seriously. However, the summing sounds a noteable notch below the big DAWS (not surprising), so it'd be cool if I could feed submixes into an app with a nicer 2-bus.

Peece,

Greetings T Tauri -

Perhaps you can use ASIO (or VST?) to buss Traktion over to the lynx console. Check their website

What OS are you using?

Wow, thought this question died.

I'm in OS X. I suspect it'd be possible, but not quite sure. Having a console app *seems* to imply the ability, anyway. I tried e-mailing Lynx, but no reply. I did correspond with someone who tried doing an end run around Logic's mixbus with the MIO's 80bit math and liked the results, and MH are another option I've been pondering. (Tho with the 10+ minute song lengths I typically get to, gonna miss that offline rendering! But if I am to persist in my Tracktion adventure, 'tis a necessity.)

my limted experience in this regard tells me that: OSX = ASIO routing not possible

MIO - could be great - or not. Best advice is to check the MIO forum (link at http://www.mhlabs.com) , ask questions of other MIO users and search the archives thoroughly for Known Issues (in my experience the company itself will not invest much energy in disclosing known issues). Consider everything that you hear of or learn w/re to your intended purpose. If digital i/o is important to you - having an external word-clocking system ready and available may reduce or eliminate any difficulties.

And - don't give up on Lynx - overall I think there is great stability, integrity quality and professionalism there. May require a phone call - but worthwhile.

good luck! Please post your results. If you are getting better in-the-box summing results - that is definitely worth noting.

when they don't reply usually means they don't know or can't be done....cuz you can only route 4 channels to each stereo DA unlike the RME where you can route all your A/D to one stereo output(at least thats what i heard i got a lynx2 my self)
