I've only spent a few minutes with it, on a full mix. Likes: mids (boosting), the drive, lows (for cutting), the HP filter.

It seems like there's something sweet about the HP. Need to do some a/b'ing with other filters.

The 12k shelf was not right for the source I was using. Need to hear it on some individual channels before I pass judgement, but it's not going to decommission the RS56, MAAG or KuSh Clariphonic, in that dept., methinks.

The price is nice.

The GUI is kinda nice. I think they could sharpen it up slightly. There are some parts that feel imprecise (even within its grunge context).

not another "vintage" plugin that captures the algorithms of some gear that probably wasn't that great to begin with. does this ever end? i much prefer stock eq's these days. tired of all the hype.

More EQ plugins. When will it ever end? Why not add to the existing range and include it as an update. So when you get the Neve Bundle you get this too.

Anyone have any comparisons to the 1073 modeled V Series set of plugins?

In another thread about this plugin, someone compared the two and his opinion was that the new plugin is far superior. Also, someone compared it with the UAD Neve and preferred the Waves plugin.

But in the end, it's best to test if yourself.

No, it will never end! Technology advances.. plug-in developers discover new approaches to their craft.. end users have ever-increasing amounts of processing power for the developers to make use of.. developers iterate on previous efforts.. new developers with fresh new ideas pop up on the scene...

Awesome. Start a thread about it then...

I definitely understand that you don't like the hype but it's a fairly large company marketing a product at you.. what do you expect? It's surely not worth throwing out the baby with the bathwater...

Looks interesting. I am definitely testing the demo today.

I just wonder if or should i say WHEN Native Instruments put out their NEVE Emulation. After the SSL, Massive Passive and Pultec Style EQs I guess they will probably make a NEVE too...

Just the features and layout is worth imho ....i don't give a sh...if it sounds like the HW (in fact all other emu as well !!) all i check is :

i have a sound A , i want it to become B , how fast / easy /fun is to go to B : case close ....

Emulations of HW benefit the original maker epxertise and this is an pricelless starting point/added value ....and this case : A MASTER

The second thing is that when it's done with Valuable mixing engineer that engage their credibilty on that , it a waranty a tleast of good sound /quality

Aside from EQ, compression and various saturation / distortion models (tube, tape, amps, transformers, harmonic exciters, etc.), is there another main category of sound manipulating tools I'm not aware of?

(Not counting drastic effects like reverb, delay, phasing, chorusing, comb filtering, harmonizers, etc.)

What mystical sound-changing witchcraft box are you wanting?

Their Demo video shows some pretty tasty distortion sounds, even though I already own the UAD 1073.

Hmm getting more and more opportunity to be able to drop UAD and go all native. The Apollo hype made me bite but until they release some truly vintage 610 console or something I honestly haven't been using it all that much.

There can't be inovation on eqs, only evolution and this one here is obviously part of it - 2013 quality emulation of classic gear that works very musically.

Audiodeluxe has a discount on this now. It is $80 something.

People model the old EQs because they are industry staples. If they invent a new plugin EQ it will just rank among the multitude of plugin EQs already out there but just with a new enticing picture. It will be harder to sell. From a business point of view there is more of a market in re-inventing the old. They way you can sell it separately just like the way the hardware was sold. After all it is the same right. Hey but with the plugin you get to automate it. Wow that could not be done with the hardware.

I have been wondering about pres as I am going to do an upgrade soon with these models getting better and better wouldent it be best just to get the most transparent pre say something like the hairball lola rather than buying a neve or api etc and use the models for flavour?
Is this emulation close enough?
