| Nuendo mixdown problem? Exporting an audio mixdown in Nuendo - and I'm not ending up with a playable AIFF file on my Mac desktop. All I get is an empty file with an icon that looks like a white piece of paper. Seems I'm doing something stupid. Any ideas?

| Well the obvious suggestion is to recheck all the defined parameters for exporting like sample rate, audio source, stereo interleaved, etc. Have you made successful AIFF files in Nuendo for Mac before? Are you trying to create a stereo interleaved, 16 bit 44.1kHz audio file? |

| I've checked and rechecked all the parameters. Mixing down to an AIFF stereo interleaved, 24 bit 44.1kHz audio file. I've down this quite a bit on Nuendo/Mac before. Seems like it's something dumb. But in doing a search for "nuendo mixdown problem" on Google I did come across a post where someone else was getting empty files.

| Dot, has the file the right extension? Are the begin and end marksers set correctly? Remco Last edited by Jamstudio; 9th October 2006 at 12:47 PM.. Reason: added a word |

| Lives for gear | it has to be something simple or a setting while mixing down. i've never had a blank file aiff, wave or w64. o i think i know what it is... look at the output.. |

| Also, check and make sure that the track(s) you want to export are not monitoring when you mixdown. Depending on your settings, this will cause Nuendo to export silence. Take all tracks off record(in preferences there is an option to disable the "record enable selecte tracks" which is annoying in my book), and make sure the output buss has been selected as the output channel. |

| Here's the set up with the Export Dialog Box. ![]() Going through the motions of mixdown. ![]() Here's the type of blank file I'm getting on my desktop after an audio mixdown attempt. ![]() Obviously it's something simple stupid. Probably with the output/mix/buss. I'm stumped.

| I know this might be really silly, but what are you trying to play the file on afterwards? That devise might not recognize 24 bit files. Try dithering your output buss and exporting a 16 bit file. |

| Gear maniac | Are you trying to play 24-bit files on iTunes or RealPlayer or something? I was't aware that they even supported 24, I'm just used to burning playables down to 16... If you bounce down to 16-bit/44.1k is the result playable? Good luck, bud. |

| I've made a little troubleshooting progress. These files are, in fact, not blank. They have the mixes in them. I opened a new project in Nuendo and then dragged one of these mystery files into a stereo track. And there was the mix. So I then try dragging one of these files into iTunes. It worked. Plays fine. So, now I'm stumped as to why I'm getting these blank white icons. I also can't play a file just by clicking it on.

| your file extension/associations are screwed up. try renaming it to .aiff. if the icon doesn't change the get info command-I in the info dialog you will see a box that says open with. change it to quicktime. the latter solution is probably the best one as you will not have to change extensions again in the future. |
