If I update my OSX version, will my protools system perform the same?

Right now I have a G5 and my OSX version is 10.3.2. Everything is fine right now but I just purchased Popcorn 2, the dvd burning program, and it requires 10.4 or higher.

My protools version is 6.9. plus I use apogee 16x series for interfaces. Will my system still perform properly if I update my mac's os?

PT 6.9.2 is compatible with OS X 10.4 "Tiger", according to Digi's website.

I can't see any issues with the upgrade but check on the Digi site to find out what's the qualified OS for PT6.9.

I'm guessing it'll be something like 10.4.4 or 10.4.5. I wouldn't go up to the latest Tiger OS, 10.4.7 had some big issues for me and while some of them have been resolved by 10.4.8. it's still not puuurfect (and I'm sure Digi won't have qualified 10.4.8 for PT6.9 either)

The earlier incarnations (except 10.4.3) seem to be more stable in audio apps. Go to the Apple support site to get the combo updater rather than using software update. Once you've done the main Tiger upgrade (10.4.0), go and repair permissions and then use the combo updater. Once finished, reapir permissions again and you should be good to go.

And of course, back up before you start this adventure. Do a CCC (www.bombich.com) of your Panther system first so you can always return to that if things don't go so well.

Have fun

I've purchased Tiger and have upgraded but my version was 10.4.6. Should I download and install 10.4.2 instead?

My pt version is 6.9.2

Oh yeah, where is the repair permissions?
