Chandler Limited and Abbey Road announce additions to the EMI plug-in series

Leading vintage equipment manufacturer Chandler Limited and London’s Abbey Road Studios are pleased to announce the next product in the EMI plug-in series; the TG Mastering Pack, comprising the TG12412 EQ (Tone Control) and TG12414 Presence/Filter plug-ins. They are to be shown for the first time at the 121st AES Convention in San Francisco between 6th and 8th October.

The plug-ins are authentic emulations of the mastering EQ and presence/filter modules from the EMI TG12410 transfer console built in the 1960’s. The console was custom developed by EMI technicians for use in EMI’s disk cutting rooms, and was not commercially available outside of EMI’s studios. The features and design of these consoles is considered so good that several are still used today in Abbey Road Studios' transfer and remastering rooms.

The TG12412 EQ provides comprehensive four-band equalisation, with selectable centre frequency, adjustable bandwidth or “Q” and up to 10dB of boost/cut on each band. Curve shapes are labelled with terms such as “blunt”, “medium” and “sharp” to describe the shape of the response curve. The TG12414 Filter plug-in includes variable low- and high-pass filters and a presence control offering eight centre frequencies between 500Hz and 10 kHz and up to 10dB of boost/cut.

The software retains the operation and unique sound of the original hardware and, when combined with the EMI TG12413 Limiter plug-in, essentially give DAW users the classic Abbey Road mastering chain in software form.

The EMI TG Mastering Pack is due for release in Q1 2007, and will be released initially in TDM and RTAS versions for Mac and PC. Pricing will be announced upon release. VST/AU versions will follow.

The only thing stopping me from checking out the TG 12413 is the VST deal. The world is not made up of Pro Tools users only!!!!

Just kidding.... sort of....

Found this in the Mix AES preview - the hardware fans aren't getting neglected either:

EMI TG12345 CURVE BENDER: The EMI TG12345 Curve Bender is the ultimate TG EQ issued in celebration of the 75th birthday of Abbey Road Studios. The newest Curve Bender, conceived by Chandler Limited designer Wade Goeke and Abbey Road senior engineer Peter Cobbin, has been transformed from the simple EQs of the rich past of EMI and Abbey Road into a modern powerhouse suitable for recording, mixing and mastering. AES booth #532.

EMI TG12413 ZENER LIMITER: The ultimate TG limiter issued in celebration of the 75th birthday of Abbey Road Studios. The Zener Limiter, conceived by designer Wade Goeke, is based on the vintage EMI circuits. This limiter continues the tradition of EMI limiters started in 1954, and borrows from the 1968 RS168 Zener Limiter and the 1969 TG12345 console strip to make a flexible unit for modern-day use. AES booth #532.

....bump

i see that the pictures for the TG Pack are up on Chandler's website, but no info other than that yet. wondering when they will be available and at what price point? i was hoping for $400 USD, if it's less that will be even better but i think Wade mentioned earlier that the price would possibly be the same as that of the limiter, but he said this before he dropped the price of that....

anyway, anyone who hasn't yet demoed the limiter do yourself a favor and get a demo. it's absolutely awesome for a plugin.

can't wait to get the TG pack!!
