It's good to see responsible manufacturers like Digi and Dan Lavry getting out there on this issue.

Clearly, there is a lot of confusion and misinformation on the topic of external clocking issues.

I agree, I didn't read the whole paper yet, but when I skipped through it, it seemed the writer didn't force his opinion about good sound, but just informed and left the conclusion that a system clocked 'properly' (offrcourse this is slightly subjective, on the other hand, when measured it's not) might not sound the best to everybody...

Well, I think it was written with a lot of restraint. The final comments, talking about accuracy vs anecdotal reports of preference -- and endorsements -- were a study in measured response, I thought. Almost to the point of irony.

Anyone who's interested in the topic probably owes it to him/herself to also read Dan Lavry's writing on external clocking issues, as well, with which Digi's whitepaper seems to be pretty consistent, including the seemingly sardonic implication that some folks may simply prefer the sound of increased jitter.

As i understand ,

Dan Lavry makes the point in short that an external clock is inherently

at a disadvantage to an internal clock which is manufactured in a design in which in

talks to or knows the other parts it talks to and what the designs needs.

whereas external clocks are like inviting an ambassador to your country

and using an interperter from the ambassadors country who doesn't know your

slang and idiosyncracies .

I think i'am right in this ?

when it comes to digital gear or computer based equipment

i find the level of marketing BS increases exponetially.

ie:

external clocks (why add something that wasn't done right to begin with)

192khz sampling rates. (diminshing returns)

dsd convertors (they are actually a type of pcm,that take up tons of storage/processing and furthermore their are pcm ad/da in the works (paul frindle ) which can pass a signal without any measurable distortion outperforming any dsd design )

spend your $$$ on analog gear!!!!!!!
