Im no logic user anymore but used to on PC till version 5. Changed to Nuendo...
But i was reading again that somebody would change the drum editor - heard that some times before too...
Dont know if it has changed since version 5 but i guess its still the same.
I really must say that i miss this drum editor a lot --- The notator on atari had the same one back in the days. I cant imagine a faster and more uncomplicated way to program drums --- the drum editor in Nuendo has a horrible workflow...
What is what u dont like about it?

Logic needs:

1) Full-PDC that works (and handles MIDI correctly)
2) Sample Accurate Editing
3) I/O plugin that is compensated for when using outboard
4) Tab to transient
5) Node with 3rd party plugs
6) General bug fixes
7) OSC support
After those things are fixed its a dream app. Until then its pretty close...

It's very annoying that the perfect workflow for me stops working after a while:

resizing by holding alt and use the scroll wheel; alt-command-scrollwheel
moving forward and backward using command-scrollwheel.

The tremolo in Guitar Amp Pro on Intelmacs! Ridiculous that it doesn't work.. no big deal really but just stupid.

Those are the bugs that spring to mind that I want to see fixed NOW actually..

SELL LOGIC BACK TO EMAGIC!!!

OR SELL LOGIC TO DIGIDESIGN.....Hmmm..... thats a thought.....

and let Apple keep the focus on selling i-pods.

Be able to navigate to the end of a selection as in PT and Logic's sample editor.

Then I'd like to see multi-channel virtual instruments that work as easily as their MIDI counterparts... You should be able to control at least panning and volume of multi-channel plugins without needing custom environment objects and aux channels.

Group editing and multiple-take "playlist" functions. Drum recording on Logic 7 is a PITA.

I don't want complete Sound Diver editing, but at least MIDI instruments should be able to ask for the patch names.

And PDC for external instruments (like Cubase/Nuendo's PING feature)

Better tempo mapping, follow external tempo and film scoring tools.

No more plugins, dance music toys, or garage band loops. Fix the bugs.

That'll do for now.

I want to use Logic's plugins and Cubase/Nuendo's audio editing features at the same time!

So supporting rewire slave mode would be very nice.

3) I/O plugin that is compensated for when using outboard

Hi,

i noticed that the i/o plug-in is already compensating for latency on tracks and busses, the only thing it's not compasating is the latency of converters (165 samples in my case).
In fact it's really a joy to use outbord gear like you would use a plug-in, morover when i plug a simple cable from out to in of my card (metric halo 2882) i cannot ear any difference in sound from inside the daw and looped via the converters (and i tryed hard to ear some) so now the only thing i miss in this subject is the short number of hardware i can use due to the lack of i/o.

All in all having used PT LE every version! with zero DC iffy drivers that are truly crap unless you spend the cash forget protools. DP i love but its so inefficient cpu wise and a little bit too fiddly.Cubase is good but is not popular in the studios i work in so compatability is an issue.Logi pro is the only option and ok it aint perfect for a lot of the reasons posted, but for me its still the only gig in town, given that you can rewire ableton, reason with no fuss UAD works in AU very well as does waves.
However i do wish they would fix the bugs before they move on stuff thats been there since emagic like when you bounce delays you get shit before the signal.
Also they could make it look cooler.

I don't think you can blame Logic for this; I use Logic 8-10 hours a day on my G5 and Macbook Pro and I honestly can't remember the last time it crashed on me - this is mixing 60-80 track songs, tracking live bands, etc.

Perhaps you need to look at your computer/hardware setup?

PDC must sync with graphics - lots of UAD-1, duende, etc plugins etc means that faders and stuff become totally useless if there's laods of latency on tracks...

1. Keep Waveburner bundled
2. Add soundtrack with it.
3. Ability to convert markers to CD track markers output to Waveburner or Peak SDII file or the ability to burn with CD Track markers from the timeline.

There will probably never be a Logic 8 it will probably be Garageband Pro or something.

maybe there is something wrong with your set up....

I suffer from crashes ocasionally... not a big problem since logic saves a crashed songs.
My main problems are Native instruments related...

My main wishes for the next main version are probably something Beat Detective like, elastic audio, playlist, improved score, improved EXS, graphical pitch editing, 'local freeze'/in-place audio editing... And maybe a new 'Smart Tool'. Better editing of MIDI-events in the arrange window. Editing of automation across several tracks simultaneously. Simple export of a part of a song (complete with regions and plugins). And more.

Agree - especially for people who would like to score a full length movie within one song. It would be nice to have multiple movie clips in one song too.

Use Event Float?

I for some stupid reason at times find it hard to get a region to snap exactly to the grid.

Either that, or instead of 'smart snap' just also have a hard snap to grid like Protools has.
Snap to grid would be nice. Are you aware of Logics various Snap and Overlap modes (see images below)? I think they came in Logic 6 or 7 and does many of the things PT does + some more.

Quote:
The mixing is fine for me, editing is painful.
I've probably used Logic too long to understand why editing is painful - what do you miss besides snap to grid?

Here's what I do: I have one Key Command for Set Locators By Regions/Events ('z') and one for 'Go To Right Locator' ('b'). By clicking zb i come to the end of the selection. But a dedicated key command would be better, sure.

why, so that they can require users to upgrade their entire hardware complement to be able to run later versions of software?

as if paying $150-200 per upgrade as we do already isn't enough, given the meagre improvements on offer; i'm not as eager as you are to shovel all my cash over to these digi bastards! out of curiosity, shall we have Digi then subcontract out all the plug-in design to Waves, so we can get "WUP'd" while they're at it?

no thanks, i'll pass.

i hope that apple puts some effort into logic this year for january namm. they've already harvested all they bought it for and put that into garageband; perhaps now they've got time to bring logic forward aways.

wishes

1> a good system for managing multiple takes

2> Beat detective type affair

3> Be able to change the fades on multiple regions (that alread have multiple different fades) at the same time, like you used to be able to do, but now all selected regions have to have the same fades in order to edit them simultaneously.

4> be able to pan the left and right channel of a stereo track seperately (ala pro tools)

plenty of others but those are the main ones for me

A lot of the things mentioned in this thread would be nice to see in Logic 8.

Above all tho - what I don't want to see is - Sorry folks no improvments really
BUT!!!!
You can now download your Apple loops created song straight to your Ipod & can now add widgets in Logic!

First improvement would be a smaller price.

This software is not so good that it is worthier than the others!

Second would be a better engine, better FX (I know some are good, but some still are not!). Tasty sound in Samplitude. A real step ahead!

Third would be ... well look at ProTools, Cubase, DP and Live: There are some features that would be very nice in Logic!

Continious Tap Tempo/Mappings

I think it's possible to do, but i wish that it had a tap tempo/conducting feature like Finale does. It's similar in Logic, but in Finale you basically set up the conducting points (not just quarter notes, but you can do 8th notes and similar where needed only) and basically conduct the feel of the score.
