Mac Pro / Waves SSL / PTLE?

Any one tried this? What were your results? Tony Belmont states that he got 175 Waves SSL and 175 URS A-Series EQ with his Mac Pro using Logic...

I've not tried this but maybe you'd better look at how much processing you think you are going to be using.

And most of all choose the DAW/sequencer you're feeling happy with! A couple of plugins less won't hurt your mix unless you're really running short of power.

With Mac Pro you'll have plenty of power for some time, though maybe that's all relative, assuming that many will start to work at a higher sample rate.

My brother just purchased the Mac Pro this week and I have to tell you, it's GREAT! I personally own a G5 2.0 and I added 32 mono tracks and instantiated as many Waves SSL Channel plug-ins as I could. For this test we are using Pro Tools LE 7.1.1. The total ended up being 43 and it was seriously choking by that time. Settings were 1024 buffer, 2 Processors, 90%. The Mac Pro ran amazingly with 160 SSL plug-ins, same settings and configuaration and the guage was a little under half. I should mention I only have 1.5 gig of ram but the MP and even lower at 1 gig. He plans on adding another 2 gigs. Then I could only imagine.

Another example is we brought up a session of which I was having sluggishness towards the end, with my G5 2.0. When we brought up the same session with the Mac Pro, I could not believe the power this machine had and to boot we also had the buffer down to 64 and it didn't even hiccup.

Time for me to go shopping as well...
