Help! SCSI and OSX related thread..help, help I have a couple of Seagate Cheetah ST336607LW drives, and an Atto Ul3D controller. I've had lots of troubles with this setup, and I suspect my drives need to update their firmware ( they both have Rev:0004). Anyone know how to update firmware on SCSI drives in OSX (Panther)?? Or better: has anyone the same setup that works? My setup: G4 QS 2002, 933, OS 10.3.4 Atto UL3D Ultra 320 card Seagate Cheetah ST336607LW Rev:0004 drives thanks, ruudman

I haven't been using any modern SCSI drives (my last ones were in the 4 GB range...), but if I had problems with a computer setup, trying to update the firmware on a hard drive would be absolutely the last thing I'd think of as a potential solution... What makes you think that this will solve your particular problem (which you didn't actually specify)? Daniel PS: Just BTW... http://www.apostrophe.fsnet.co.uk/

Don't lose sight of your problem. If you are not using a RAID configuration, the firmware is not your problem.

I see that their statement had to do with RAID solutions. That doesn't rule out the possibility of firmware issues. In fact, I have been recommended to update by Seagate. Oh well, I will try some other disks in the mean time.. Sorry if I have not been very informative, but I was simply wondering about HOW to update via mac os. Seagate has cleared that up, it is is simply a no go.
