Logic Pro Question: recording Fader, playback Fader

Is there a way to maintain the same fader level for both recording and playback? I usuall record enable a track, get levels to tape and then turn my faders down until I have a good mix to perform to.
Then,
when i am done recording I deactivate the track and my faders jump to 0.0dB and blast my speakers.

Can anyone tell me how to deactivate this?
I just want one volume fader level for playback and recording?

It never bothered me before, but it is getting anoying.
anyone?

Why don't you just make a cue mix for recording?

Use sends to a bus to get the desired levels, and send the bus to the headphones.

create a template with the playback levels at whatever level you want and use that iso for every song.

Make sure you have Pre-Fader metering turned on so you see what is hitting the channel instead of just your playback volume.

I know about all of these things, but I just want one fader volume. for when I record and when I playback.

As I can see, it is not possible.

Its silly, this is how Pro Tools and Cubase work.

That is what you will have with Pre-Fader metering turned on. The only difference is on playback when you pull down the fader you will hear lower volume but will noit see it reflected on the fader. Just like a console.

my understandingof Pre Fader Metering is that it only effects what the meter is showing, not what the channel is producing. in which case It will not create one fader for recording and playing.

I may not be getting you right, but my issues is not with metering, it is with monitoring. Either way, I will turn it on and see what happends, but I am not having much faith.
