Question Low-jitter SPDIF

Hello, this may be slightly off-topic, excuse me then.

I'm looking for a low-jitter soundcard for hooking up with an Audio Alchemy DDE 1.1 DAC. I imagine using a toslink for this. I currently have a Julia soundcard but am wondering what other cards may have better jitter performance than that card. As a possible candidate I've been thinking about the RME DIGI96....

Many thanks for your attention!

I assume you want the sound card to act as master and the DAC as slave? In that case how about RME 96/52 or Lynx?

Probably, I'm inexperienced with setting up master-slave relations. As far as I know the optimal is that the receiving end is master. But the important thing to me is that there is a low-jitter connection, better than my current Julia. I'm just trying to step up and get a more clean sound from my DAC.

(Misread DAC as ADC, sorry)

What happens if you set your DAC to master now?

Have you W/C'ed them?

Right now I cannot set the DAC as a master with my Julia. But I'll be getting the AA DDE 1.1 DAC in a few days. Maybe that can act as a slave then. I don't know about W/C - wordclock? (newbie )

Use a 75 ohm BNC cable to sync via Word Clock between two digital units.

Most digital signals have their own sync signal embedded in the data stream, so between just two units W/C is not always necessary.

However, in some cases you should try doing it anyway, and always when using more than two units.

Be sure that one is master, and the other slave and that W/C sync is set to on. Usually you'll want the unit with the best clock to be the master, but in some cases there are practical reasons why things are different.
