URS BLT?

http://www.ursplugins.com - August Special -

I'm pretty much broke and want to buy something.

Is this worth 50 bucks?

It's essentially the same algorithm as the FullTec

Thanks, DrDeltaM - anybody else?

Is there any documentation that shows curves, etc.

- should work okay with a Pro Tools M-Powered ILock, right?

Yes, all you need is an iLok account and an iLok key connected to it. You can try a demo first as well

Yes it's worth the $50!!!
When I just wanna add a little EQ with taxing my CPU I always use the BLT.

Thanks, George, I think I'm gonna get it, if my PT MP iLok gets here in time.

So, I can't find any documentation on the URS site.

Do they have images of the shelf shapes anywhere?

Also, is BLT mono only?

Thanks!

It's stereo.
It's a very simple eq, bass treble that's it but it can really add the light boost or cut you need. Because the curve is broad, it is natural.

I don't think there are curve images out there, but you can always mail Bobby at URS, he can tell you exactly at what freq's the BLT works.

It also runs in stereo, and you can upgrade later to the Fulltec with reduced price

Thank you, people - this is a wonderful place!

- curves look as described (kinda British?), I'm sold.

Anybody want to loan me $50? (just kidding)

Okay, I should get my PT MP package with the iLok on Thur. or Fri., then I can get an iLok account - then I can buy the BLT before the sale ends.

I was wondering if the boost and cut curves are reciprocal? If not, maybe you could put two BLT's in series (Club Sandwich?) and do some Pultec tricks - just a thought.

BTW, thanks to Jbassist for the curve shots.

I also have the FullTec, which I use when I need that type of EQ. You could however make a graph of the cut curves and see if they are different from the boost ones in shape to make sure.

They have that sale every month as far as I've seen, so I wouldn't worry too much. Try the demo too to see if you like it. It wasn't my cup of tea. I demoed channel strip this week and it is cool, but I'll have to wait to buy it for a while. The EQ there was pretty smooth. Good luck.

Right on, DrDelta. I use Wave Arts' TrackPlug as my main channel strip these days and I just wanted to get something cheap with a different flavor - will check the boost vs. cut curves and see.

B*stards! (just kidding) You watch, if I don't buy it, it won't be on sale in Sept. and if I do, it will! mrufino1, you're the first negative vote, kind though (not BLT = teh suxxor). I'll probably follow your advice on the demo. The URS CS looks cool. I'm really getting good results with TrackPlug 5, so I'm sticking with that for now. I and my wallet don't want to have too many options. I knew a guy that had every cracked and free plug-in you could think of at the time and he never got anything done because he was always trying to decide which one sounded better. Besides, I'm not too big on the vintage emulation/recreation thing (again, limitations vs. options), though it certainly has it's place. After this, I'm probably on to full versions of some of the Massey stuff for PT (wish he had other formats, though).

Jbassist, could you please tell what VST Analyzer you used? Is it a third party plugin or is it built into your DAW? That looks useful. Thanks.
