Er, feeling a little stupid I ask if anyone can point out my basic error: I use PTLE 7.1 with my MacBook Pro. I also like to use Logic 7.2 sometimes. The midi side works fine but I can't record any audio "cos all I get is hissing white noise every time I enter record mode on audio tracks. The 002R is pretty new and has the latest firmware. All the cabling is OK. Audio is fine in PTLE. Must be staring me in the face but I'm danged if I can figure it..

It sounds like some digital I/O problem, you don't mention what sound card you're using and what the setup is.

Well, the 002R connects via firewire to the MacBook Pro, using CoreAudio in the Mac. There's no soundcard. There's nothing that I can think of in the Audio path to cause a problem. As I mentioned, Audio records fine in ProTools LE. This noise problem only occurs in audio tracks in Logic. Plugin instruments all record correctly. Weird thing, huh? Any ideas would be much appeciated |

| could it be...
an argument between pro tools and core audio ? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301658 I'd check out the drivers and update - if it has never worked check it out - Digi hardware I work with works ok with pro tools, but often get grief with cubase unless we get the right versions of the digi asio drivers. good luck |

I've had this happen- it's a core audio issue. Go into preferences in Logic and change the buffer size, which will re-initialize Core audio. Then change it back to where you had it and you should be good to go.

Nice idea, Pops, but no dice. No change. I'm beginning to think there may be a fault in the 002R...but no, why can I still record audio in PTLE??? This one has got me beat. Thanks for your thoughts anyway. zirk |
