Vocalign Project vs. Vocalign Pro

I'm considering purchasing Vocalign. I spend alot of time editing vocal dubs trying to get them to match, hopefully this plug will save me alot of time. First of all, have any of you used Vocalign? How do you like it?

As far as the two different versions go (Pro & Project), which one would you recomend? Other than price ($700 vs. $300), what's the differance between the two? The product description doesn't really go into detail.

Has ayone tried using this plug to align drum samples? Sound Replacer is always a little off.

I got vocalign pro about 4-5 months ago, and in that time span..it has paid for itself many many many many times over. The amount of time I spent editing BVs has gone from a good hour or more..to about 5 minutes. It's that good.

Pretty simple to use really. Highlight the source, hit the capture button, select dub, highlight the track to be "vocaligned", hit capture, hit align, and process...takes about 10 seconds...and it's 100% what you were looking for about 90-95% of the time. It's really amazing. I don't know the difference in the versions but 700 dollars was a small price to pay for the amount of time it's saved me.

never tried it on drums

That sounds great, thanks for the reply.

I'm definatley gonna get this plug but I'm still having a hard time deciding what version to get. $700 for one plug still seems like alot to me.

On the Synchro Arts website it lists the functions that are not available on the "project" version.

They are:
-Advanced alignment
-Synch Points
-Protected Regions
-Frequency Domain TimeMod
-Multiple Preview Options.
-Allows selected audio to be previewed

In your opinion are any of these features "must haves?" Or could you live without them?

I havn't really gotten into any of those features with the exception of the synch points, which for singers who don't pronounce well, can really help to keep words from getting ummm "blurred".

Vocalign is great. Unfortunately I find it too expensive, especially the Pro version...

If I just make sure my singers pronounce their words well is there still a reason to get vocalign pro? Any difference in just the plain old aligning algorithms between these two or is the extra $400 just to get those sync points?
