Macbook, Macbookpro, Mac Pro Quad... hmmm

Ok- I'm still running on an MDD dual 867 G4. Everything is fine, it runs well. The only problem is- it is NOISY as HELL. So I'm looking into my options. I would like to just get a Macbook and call it a day- but of course I'm wondering how much ridiculously more I'd be missing out on if I didn't get a Macbook Pro or the new Quad. I want transportability to be a factor.. so maybe the Quad is out of the picture...the macbook looks great for the price- and of course NOISE can not be a part of the factor. It is truly screwing with my recordings and not letting me hear my room.

btw I run Logic Pro and the most tracks I'll need to record at once may be a small Jazz quartet or tracking drums.

and also- For a temporary solution (My MDD is already in the closet..but) how long can USB and monitor cables travel before they die out? I'm thinking about putting this computer across the street in an air-tight capsule. Ok that is an exaggeration.
