Recording Demos on G4 - opinions please...

hey,
i want to record demos on my Mac G4 while i'm on the road. acoustic guitar, vocals - real simple stuff. what i want to know is, what is the best way to do this? i just bought a blue snowball mic and, plugging it straight in with the usb cable, i think it sounds pretty bad. i'm now looking at the apogee mini me. do any of you have an opinion on something like this for the type of use i'm looking for? also, do any of you have any better options? thanks,

i think it depends more on what kind of software you want to use. I think protools is the easiest and straight forword way to go with logic coming in 2nd place. An mbox can take you pretty far and give you a very good useable sound.

i don't understand why the software would matter if what i'm doing is just guitar and vocals? i don't get it. i guess maybe i didn't explain myself well enough in my first post. i just want the best sounding, most flexible, and most portable A/D conversion so i can record in my hotel room.
