New "Reason Pianos" refill

Hi guys,

Any feedback on the new reason multisampled piano refill? Worth the money? Or should I still be saving up for gigasampler? I would be really happy if Propellerhead has done good job on these.

Cheers

yo, it's GREAT.

give one to me.

psst - it's available starting Aug 15th and i am sending you this message from the future.

but, in all realness, if drum kits is any indication, pianos will be worth much more than the price of admission.

From concept and examples it seems really great! Let's hope for the best!

The demos on the site are utterly 90's, and try to distract you from the piano sounds! So I am also wondering about this fill.

I have the strings and drums fill, and the strings is somewhat disappointing while the drums fill kicks ass. And I've played drums for 25 years. In fact I'm thinking of sampling my own stuff and integrating it into the fill.

The cool thing about the piano fill that I can see from the video is it uses the same approach as the drums fill, with multiple micing positions blendable, etc. It also promises to be more efficient than the Synthology Ivory (my box is starting to look a bit old). The Ivory certainly has the kickass demos and is what I'd use for sparse arrangements if I didn't have access to a real one. Hoping the Reason fill can at least be used for dense arrangements effectively.

And they should definitely redo their strings fill! Peff's free strad fill kicks its ass, for instance.

the video for it is funny

@peeder: for strings you could check out the miroslav refills from sonic reality.

Reason Pianos

My copy arrived yesterday and I have only had an hour or 2 to try it out, but so far it sounds great. I also love the fact that it is only a few Gigabytes big (and one file!), compared to the thousands of files and many Gb of some others.

It is also really good that there are so many presets through combinator that make it flexible and the fact that the sounds from the C7 and upright really sit well in the mix.

As a played solo instrument, I actually prefer the sound of a Bosendorfer 290 (which wasn't one of the sampled pianos for 'Reason Pianos' but I do still really like the Steinway D sound (it's just horses for courses, I guess)

So far I am really impressed with it.

A.

I got mine last month and think it sounds great. I haven't had a chance to do a side by side comparison w/ some of the other stand alone plugs, but judging from the demos, reason pianos'll hold it's own easily.
i also agree w/ the other posters about the drums 'n strings refills....

Reason Drum kits 2

Reason strings tutt
